Short answer
Evidence-led verdict
The Great Pigsby Megapays is a Relax Gaming first-party title identified in the checked demo as greatpigsbymegapays. The live help we inspected is dated 13 November 2024 and marked version 1.0.14; the official release record dates the game to 5 April 2022. The rules describe six variable-height reels with two to seven active symbols and up to 117,649 ways. Those identifiers matter because lower-return builds and market-specific clients can share the same artwork.
The checked help states a theoretical RTP of 96.19%, equivalent to a 3.81% theoretical house edge. That is the figure for the client opened during this review, not proof that every operator deploys the same build. Relax's product record lists alternative game IDs, so the percentage inside the exact live client remains the controlling value.
The current help ends ordinary game wins at 20,000x total bet. It separately states that Megapays jackpot wins are unlimited and are added above the cap. The checked help does not state a minimum or maximum stake, so no supplier-card currency range is presented as a verified NZD limit. The risk profile is high, as labelled in the official release record; return and prize information do not predict whether a feature or large award will occur in a session.
This page confirms studio authorship, current help text and public release status. It does not claim that a New Zealand operator offers the title, that a demo is a local real-money product, or that a displayed euro-denominated reference range will appear as NZD. Those questions require a separate operator and live-client check.

Megapays build, not Megaways
Exact version, release record and naming boundary
Relax Gaming released The Great Pigsby Megapays on 5 April 2022. The current first-party client identifies the build as greatpigsbymegapays; the rules inspected here are dated 13 November 2024 and marked version 1.0.14.
The word Megapays identifies the progressive jackpot system in this version. It should not be silently replaced with “Megaways”: a differently named Great Pigsby title exists, has a different canonical page and requires its own help evidence.
Current help controls every mathematical statement in this article. The launch record supplies the original release date and provider volatility label, while the supplier catalogue establishes that Relax Gaming publishes the title rather than merely aggregating it.
None of those first-party records proves that a particular New Zealand-facing casino currently offers the game. Operator availability, currency, account status and withdrawal terms must be checked separately at the time of play.
Variable reel heights
Six reels expand from two to seven symbols
The game uses six reels, and each reel can display between two and seven active symbol positions. A regular paying combination starts on reel one and continues across adjacent reels from left to right.
At full height, seven positions on each of six reels produce up to 117,649 ways. That figure is the maximum configuration, not a promise that every paid spin begins or ends with all reels at seven symbols.
Several instances of the same symbol on one qualifying reel can create several ways within the same combination. The paytable value and active reel heights therefore both matter when reconstructing a result.
The ways counter describes combination geometry only. It does not show the probability of a win, the chance of a feature, the future jackpot pool or the expected return of a short session.
Expansion also sets the multiplier
Wild reels feed the piggy-bank feature meter
Wild symbols can appear on reels two through six. A Wild expands to cover every active position on its reel, substitutes in ordinary combinations and carries a multiplier equal to the number of active symbols on that reel.
A seven-symbol Wild reel therefore uses a larger multiplier than a two-symbol Wild reel. Where several expanded Wilds participate, the settlement must be read under the current paytable rather than reduced to a generic multiplier slogan.
Every collected Wild is added to the piggy bank. Collection creates a chance to activate one of three features, but the help does not publish a deterministic meter target or a schedule that lets a player predict the next trigger.
The visible piggy-bank state does not change the underlying feature probabilities. It is presentation and collection history, not evidence that a feature is “due” after a run of spins.
Three possible awards
Free Spins, Wild Re-spin and Great Pigsby ReSpin
The piggy bank can activate Free Spins, a Wild Re-spin or the Great Pigsby ReSpin. Each is a separate rule route, so their names should not be collapsed into a single generic bonus.
The Wild Re-spin awards one re-spin in which between two and five of reels two through six become Wild. Each of those Wild reels receives a random multiplier from two to seven.
The Great Pigsby ReSpin also awards one re-spin, but instead overlays between three and nine instances of the game's highest-paying symbol. It does not use the same expanded-Wild setup as the Wild Re-spin.
A one-spin feature can still cascade through several evaluated wins if the rules allow it, but the award is not described as a package of guaranteed profitable spins. Final value depends on the resulting reel state and combinations.
Ten initial rounds
Scatter retriggers also remove low royal symbols
The Free Spins feature begins with ten spins. Its purpose is not simply to repeat the base game: Scatter landings extend the round and progressively alter the available reel symbols.
Every Scatter that appears during Free Spins adds two more spins. At the same time, the lowest remaining royal symbol is disabled, beginning with the ten and then moving upward through the royal ranks.
A disabled royal is replaced by a higher- or medium-value symbol. This concentrates the reel set, but it does not guarantee a Wild, a top symbol, a feature trigger or a positive final return.
Because several Scatters can extend the round and remove several royals, two features can finish with very different reel compositions. The help gives the transformation rule, not a fixed number of total spins or a promised payout.
Four progressive prize pools
MINI, MIDI, MAJOR and MEGA are separate from the game cap
Megapays supplies four progressive tiers: MINI, MIDI, MAJOR and MEGA. The checked help ties eligibility to collected jackpot symbols, with the higher tiers requiring more of those symbols.
The help schedule is MINI for four to seven jackpot symbols, MIDI for eight to eleven, MAJOR for twelve to fourteen and MEGA for fifteen or more. Reaching an eligibility band is governed by the game event; it is not something a player can time from the displayed pool.
Each qualifying real-money bet contributes to the progressive system. The help allocates 1.50% to MINI, 1.30% to MIDI, 1.20% to MAJOR and 1.10% to MEGA, while the overall jackpot component of RTP is reported separately as 9.44%.
Fun-money play cannot win a jackpot. The progressive awards are also expressly outside the 20,000× ordinary-game cap, so the displayed pool must not be rewritten as a fixed “maximum win” for every mode.
Live-help evidence
RTP, house edge and alternative builds
The information panel in the checked official demo states “the theoretical return to player for this game is 96.19%.” Subtracting that value from 100% gives a theoretical house edge of 3.81%. Both numbers describe the same long-run mathematical relationship from opposite directions; they are not separate charges and they are not a forecast for a deposit.
| Checked mode or route | Theoretical RTP | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Base game in official demo | 96.19% | Verified in help: 13 November 2024 |
| Megapays jackpot component | 9.44% | Included within the stated 96.19% total RTP |
A return of 96.19% means that across the model's very large test horizon, average awards correspond to 96.19 units for every 100 units staked. It does not mean a player receives that percentage back after 100 spins. High variation, rare features and capped awards can produce short samples far above or below the designed average.
Alternative game IDs are material even when their exact returns are absent from the public product card. A casino can deploy a lower-RTP build under the same consumer title. We therefore do not label 96.19% “universal” or “guaranteed.” Open the information control in the operator client and look for the percentage after the game has loaded.
Do not infer RTP from a demo balance, one successful bonus, a streaming clip or a site's headline card. A random sample cannot identify the configured model reliably. The useful audit record is the exact title, visible game ID or version, displayed RTP, date and operator client captured together.
Distribution, not prediction
Volatility and maximum-win limits
Relax Gaming's 5 April 2022 release labels the game high volatility. The current v1.0.14 help does not publish a numerical volatility index, hit rate or jackpot frequency.
The current help ends ordinary game wins at 20,000x total bet. It separately states that Megapays jackpot wins are unlimited and are added above the cap. “Times bet” uses the full paid stake for the initiating round, not one coin, one line or the balance. A $1 hypothetical stake makes the scale easy to understand, but it does not assert that NZD play is offered.
A cap is a settlement limit, not a realistic session target. It provides no countdown, hit schedule or evidence that raising the stake improves the chance per dollar. Previous non-winning spins do not move a random future result closer to the cap. Treat every paid round as new exposure.
Practical risk is also shaped by total stake, spin speed, feature purchases, enhanced-spin options and session length. A lower stake repeated rapidly can expose more money than a higher stake used briefly. Decide the total acceptable loss before opening the game, then use account limits and breaks rather than chasing a feature.
Read the charged amount
Bet range, optional costs and affordability
Confirm the total stake, denomination and Megapays eligibility in the exact deployed client. The official global demo does not establish an operator's New Zealand availability or account limits.
Always read the total bet immediately before a paid action. The interface can show denomination, level, lines and total stake separately. Enhanced spins or bonus-reel options may increase the price of a round, while a feature purchase can cost many multiples of the base stake. The amount leaving the balance is the relevant measure.
A useful pre-session calculation is total bet multiplied by the maximum number of rounds you are prepared to buy, assuming the entire amount can be lost. For a feature purchase, treat the whole displayed price as exposed at once. Do not finance a purchase by increasing the base stake after losses.
Promotional funds do not change the slot's RTP. Wagering requirements, game contribution, maximum-bet rules and cash-out limits sit in the operator's terms. Check them independently, because a bonus can make an otherwise permitted game or stake ineligible.
Interface verification
Mobile help and what a demo can prove
The official web demo loaded a responsive game client and exposed the title, help date, version, rules and return information used here. On a phone, locate the menu, information icon, total bet, balance and paytable before considering a paid round. If text is clipped, rotate the device or expand the help rather than relying on a search result.
A demo can demonstrate symbol movement, feature order, mode selection and interface controls with valueless credits. It cannot establish that a real-money operator accepts players in New Zealand, that the operator uses the same game ID, or that its active RTP matches the demo.
Demo results also cannot validate the long-run RTP. Ten, one hundred or even thousands of observed spins are a noisy sample, especially in a volatile game. A large demo win is not a prediction for paid play and a dry demo sequence is not proof that the published mathematics is wrong.
If desktop and mobile help disagree, pause. Record the exact URL or operator, title, mode, help version and percentages. The mismatch can indicate a cached client, a market build or an update. Current deployed help is stronger evidence than an undated review, but conflicting clients still need clarification.
Separate evidence chain
New Zealand access is not inferred from the demo
Relax Gaming's own-games catalogue and public demo show that the studio publishes The Great Pigsby Megapays. They do not show that a named operator lawfully offers it to a person in New Zealand. Studio publication, aggregation, operator inventory, territorial access and legal status are separate claims.
Before any real-money use, verify the operator's identity, current New Zealand terms, age and location controls, payments, withdrawals, complaints, account limits and self-exclusion tools. A localised page, NZD wallet or country flag is not on its own regulatory proof.
New Zealand's online-gambling position is time-sensitive. Check the Department of Internal Affairs player guidance and our dated legal-status guide at the point of use. This review is about one game's rules and does not provide legal advice.
Even after an operator check, inspect the live game help. A valid operator relationship does not prove the highest RTP, and the right RTP does not prove operator status. Keeping both questions separate prevents a global demo from becoming an unsupported availability claim.
Source reconciliation
What the checked sources establish
The official product page establishes first-party authorship, public release status, layout, reference bets, headline features and the supported market game IDs. The loaded demo supplies the stronger operational evidence for rules, version, displayed RTP, purchase route and win-cap wording.
The current help verifies the variable reel height, 117,649-way maximum, expanding Wild multipliers, three feature routes, four progressive tiers, total RTP and its jackpot component, contribution rates, non-jackpot cap and demo exclusion. No unsupported purchase, stake range or NZ availability claim was added.
Third-party reviews were used to find frequent questions and contradictions, not to override the live help. Competitors often print only the largest cap, omit the selected mode, describe alternative IDs as exact RTPs without a source, or treat global demo access as operator availability.
The evidence was checked on 6 October 2026. The date matters: Relax can update a client or product card, and operators can retain another certified build. Future checks should start with the deployed help and compare its identifier, version and return with this record.
We do not add a hit rate, feature frequency, universal volatility score, New Zealand operator claim or exact alternative RTP unless the checked first-party material supports it. An explicit evidence gap is preferable to a precise-looking number copied from another release.
Two-minute audit
Checklist before relying on this guide
- Match the full title The Great Pigsby Megapays and developer Relax Gaming.
- Confirm game ID greatpigsbymegapays, help date 13 November 2024 and version 1.0.14 where shown.
- Check the layout: six variable-height reels with two to seven active symbols and up to 117,649 ways.
- Read feature triggers, reset rules and settlement order in the live help.
- Record the active RTP rather than assuming 96.19%.
- Recheck the exact maximum wording: 20,000x the total bet, with jackpots added above it.
- Read the displayed total stake after enabling any option.
- Verify operator identity and New Zealand access independently.
- Check promotional terms separately from game mathematics.
- Set money and time limits that remain acceptable if no feature arrives.
If the live help differs, use that deployed build and send the title, game ID, version, date and screenshot through our corrections process. That evidence lets us update one canonical review without creating duplicate RTP or bonus pages.

Questions answered
Frequently asked questions
What is The Great Pigsby Megapays RTP?
The official v1.0.14 help dated 13 November 2024 states 96.19% total RTP. It says 9.44 percentage points of that total come from the Megapays jackpot component.
How many win ways does the game have?
The six reels can show between two and seven active symbols each. At maximum height the game offers 117,649 left-to-right ways.
How do expanding Wilds work?
Wilds appear on reels two to six, expand across the active reel and use the reel height as their multiplier. Collected Wilds also create chances for three piggy-bank features.
Is the 20,000× cap also a jackpot limit?
No. The help caps ordinary game wins at 20,000× the total bet but states that Megapays jackpot awards are added above that cap and are not limited by it.
Can a fun-money demo win a Megapays jackpot?
No. The checked help says fun-money play is not eligible to win a jackpot, so a demo can illustrate controls but cannot reproduce the real jackpot award route.
