Short answer
Evidence-led verdict
Bonsai Dragon Blitz is a Relax Gaming first-party title identified in the checked demo as bonsaidragonblitz. The live help we inspected is dated 12 January 2026 and marked version 1.0.3; the official release record dates the game to 16 April 2026. The rules describe six reels, four rows and 4,096 adjacent-reel ways. Those identifiers matter because lower-return builds and market-specific clients can share the same artwork.
The checked help states a theoretical RTP of 96.10%, equivalent to a 3.90% theoretical house edge. That is the figure for the client opened during this review, not proof that every operator deploys the same build. Relax's product record lists alternative game IDs, so the percentage inside the exact live client remains the controlling value.
The documented maximum is 10,000x the total bet. The reference stake range is €0.10 to €100. The risk profile is medium-to-high in Relax Gaming's official release announcement; a published ceiling and return percentage do not predict whether a feature or large award will occur in a session.
This page confirms studio authorship, current help text and public release status. It does not claim that a New Zealand operator offers the title, that a demo is a local real-money product, or that a displayed euro-denominated reference range will appear as NZD. Those questions require a separate operator and live-client check.

Exact standard edition
Release status and checked game build
Relax Gaming announced the standard Bonsai Dragon Blitz for 16 April 2026 and lists it among its own games. This page is not about the earlier Dream Drop edition. That distinction changes the jackpot model and prevents a network-jackpot review from being used as evidence for this fixed-prize version.
The working rules source is the public client identified as bonsaidragonblitz. Its help is dated 12 January 2026 and carries version 1.0.3. A release date can follow an earlier certified help package, so those dates are compatible rather than evidence that the review concerns another game.
The product record also exposes alternative identifiers ending in 94 and 86. They show that market configurations exist but do not disclose every live client's percentage. This review therefore quotes only the return actually displayed in the checked help.
The provider's reference stakes run from €0.10 to €100. They identify the global product build; they are not a promise of NZD denominations or availability through an operator serving New Zealand.
4,096 ways
How ordinary wins are formed
The grid has six reels and four rows, producing 4,096 ways. A paying combination uses matching regular symbols on consecutive reels beginning on reel one. Multiple matches on a reel create multiple ways, so this is not a fixed-payline game.
Wins are evaluated before the special collection sequence continues. The Dragon and Bonsai symbols have feature jobs rather than acting like ordinary high-paying pictures. Reading them as a conventional wild-and-scatter pair would miss the meter conditions that control their value.
The regular stake starts one complete game round. Respins awarded by the collection mechanic and Bonsai Spins remain part of that initiated round for cap purposes. The 10,000x limit applies to the combined settlement, not separately to every continuation.
Two Dragons can appear because the character is restricted to the outer reels. Their effect is defined by the starting meter values; it is not a blanket 2x multiplier placed on every ordinary symbol win.
Outer-reel collector
Dragon activation and the collection respin
A Dragon can land on reel one or reel six. At least one Bonsai symbol must be visible with it before the collection sequence activates. A Dragon without a Bonsai does not start the feature, and Bonsai symbols without a Dragon do not collect themselves.
When the condition is met, the Dragon collects the coin values shown by the Bonsai symbols. Positions that are neither Dragon nor Bonsai are respun while the qualifying symbols remain involved. This creates a continuation, but not a new independently purchased round.
If Dragons land on both outer reels, the starting values on the prize meter are doubled. The help ties the doubling to those displayed starting values, so it should not be rewritten as a general doubling of the final round total.
The feature can award progress without completing the top meter. Partial progress belongs to the active sequence; it is not a persistent account balance carried into a future paid spin unless the live rules explicitly show continuation within the same feature.
Five coins per section
Bonsai meter, chests and the Blitz award
The Bonsai meter is divided into sections, and each section requires five collected coins. An individual Bonsai can add one to five coins. Progress therefore depends on the visible coin labels and the current section rather than simply counting how many tree symbols landed.
Treasure chests can upgrade the cash-prize values shown on the meter and may award a respin. An upgrade changes displayed prize values; it does not automatically complete the meter or guarantee that the highest upgraded amount will be reached.
Completing the active meter path produces the Blitz award shown by the interface. The largest displayed meter value is 10,000x. That aligns with the round cap, so a sequence reaching the limit ends and settles at the documented maximum.
“Fixed jackpot” in the release describes the prize structure, not a progressive pool. It should not be combined with Dream Drop terminology, advertised network values or claims that the prize grows with other players' stakes.
Guaranteed Dragon
Bonsai Spins trigger and persistence
Three or more Bonus symbols trigger Bonsai Spins. The initial number corresponds to the trigger count, with one additional spin for each extra triggering symbol. This is a variable trigger award rather than a generic fixed block of ten free spins.
A Dragon is guaranteed on every Bonsai Spin, making the collection condition more accessible, but a useful Bonsai landing is still required. A guaranteed collector does not guarantee a collection payout or a profitable feature.
Each Bonus symbol appearing while the feature is active adds one spin. Chest upgrades persist throughout Bonsai Spins, allowing later collections to use improved displayed prizes. They cease with the feature and should not be described as permanent account upgrades.
The same 10,000x cap covers feature awards and the initiating result. The feature can finish earlier without completing the meter, and the number of added spins has no disclosed schedule that a short demo session could verify.
Mode and purchase
Bonsai Spins mode and direct entry
Where permitted, Bonsai Spins mode charges 10x the regular bet. The help lists its RTP as 96.10%, the same headline return as ordinary play. The option changes the round setup; it does not promise a bonus trigger on every attempt.
The direct feature purchase costs 50x the regular bet and guarantees at least three Bonus symbols. Its documented RTP is 96.50%. That percentage describes a long-run route and does not reduce the possibility that the purchased feature returns less than its price.
Mode availability is jurisdiction- and operator-dependent. A public demo can expose controls that a real-money client removes, so the button itself is not evidence that the route is available to a New Zealand player.
Before using either option, confirm the final amount leaving the balance and the active help percentage. Multiplying the nominal base stake by 10 or 50 makes the actual exposure clearer than comparing only the display's coin denomination.
Live-help evidence
RTP, house edge and alternative builds
The information panel in the checked official demo states “the theoretical return to player for this game is 96.10%.” Subtracting that value from 100% gives a theoretical house edge of 3.90%. Both numbers describe the same long-run mathematical relationship from opposite directions; they are not separate charges and they are not a forecast for a deposit.
| Checked mode or route | Theoretical RTP | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Base game in official demo | 96.10% | Verified in help: 12 January 2026 |
| Buy Feature | 96.50% | Applies only to the documented paid route where available |
A return of 96.10% means that across the model's very large test horizon, average awards correspond to 96.10 units for every 100 units staked. It does not mean a player receives that percentage back after 100 spins. High variation, rare features and capped awards can produce short samples far above or below the designed average.
Alternative game IDs are material even when their exact returns are absent from the public product card. A casino can deploy a lower-RTP build under the same consumer title. We therefore do not label 96.10% “universal” or “guaranteed.” Open the information control in the operator client and look for the percentage after the game has loaded.
The Buy Feature is mathematically separate in the checked help: it states 96.50% RTP and costs 50x the regular bet for direct Bonsai Spins. That route can be unavailable in some markets or excluded by an operator. Its published return does not make the option affordable or reduce the possibility of losing the full price.
Do not infer RTP from a demo balance, one successful bonus, a streaming clip or a site's headline card. A random sample cannot identify the configured model reliably. The useful audit record is the exact title, visible game ID or version, displayed RTP, date and operator client captured together.
Distribution, not prediction
Volatility and maximum-win limits
The available first-party and live-help evidence supports a medium-to-high in Relax Gaming's official release announcement risk profile. Volatility concerns how unevenly the mathematical return is distributed: a volatile game can devote more of its return to uncommon events and leave long stretches with small awards or none. It is not a timetable for a bonus and it does not show that a loss is “due” to reverse.
The checked maximum is 10,000x total bet. “Times bet” uses the full paid stake for the initiating round, not one coin, one line or the balance. A $1 hypothetical stake makes the cap easy to understand, but it does not assert that NZD play is offered.
A cap is a settlement limit, not a realistic session target. It provides no countdown, hit schedule or evidence that raising the stake improves the chance per dollar. Previous non-winning spins do not move a random future result closer to the cap. Treat every paid round as new exposure.
Practical risk is also shaped by total stake, spin speed, feature purchases, enhanced-spin options and session length. A lower stake repeated rapidly can expose more money than a higher stake used briefly. Decide the total acceptable loss before opening the game, then use account limits and breaks rather than chasing a feature.
Read the charged amount
Bet range, optional costs and affordability
The product record gives a reference minimum of €0.10 and maximum of €100. Those euro-denominated figures identify the provider's reference build. They do not promise equivalent NZD controls, and an operator can apply different denominations or account limits.
Always read the total bet immediately before a paid action. The interface can show denomination, level, lines and total stake separately. Enhanced spins or bonus-reel options may increase the price of a round, while a feature purchase can cost many multiples of the base stake. The amount leaving the balance is the relevant measure.
A useful pre-session calculation is total bet multiplied by the maximum number of rounds you are prepared to buy, assuming the entire amount can be lost. For a feature purchase, treat the whole displayed price as exposed at once. Do not finance a purchase by increasing the base stake after losses.
Promotional funds do not change the slot's RTP. Wagering requirements, game contribution, maximum-bet rules and cash-out limits sit in the operator's terms. Check them independently, because a bonus can make an otherwise permitted game or stake ineligible.
Interface verification
Mobile help and what a demo can prove
The official web demo loaded a responsive game client and exposed the title, help date, version, rules and return information used here. On a phone, locate the menu, information icon, total bet, balance and paytable before considering a paid round. If text is clipped, rotate the device or expand the help rather than relying on a search result.
A demo can demonstrate symbol movement, feature order, mode selection and interface controls with valueless credits. It cannot establish that a real-money operator accepts players in New Zealand, that the operator uses the same game ID, or that its active RTP matches the demo.
Demo results also cannot validate the long-run RTP. Ten, one hundred or even thousands of observed spins are a noisy sample, especially in a volatile game. A large demo win is not a prediction for paid play and a dry demo sequence is not proof that the published mathematics is wrong.
If desktop and mobile help disagree, pause. Record the exact URL or operator, title, mode, help version and percentages. The mismatch can indicate a cached client, a market build or an update. Current deployed help is stronger evidence than an undated review, but conflicting clients still need clarification.
Separate evidence chain
New Zealand access is not inferred from the demo
Relax Gaming's own-games catalogue and public demo show that the studio publishes Bonsai Dragon Blitz. They do not show that a named operator lawfully offers it to a person in New Zealand. Studio publication, aggregation, operator inventory, territorial access and legal status are separate claims.
Before any real-money use, verify the operator's identity, current New Zealand terms, age and location controls, payments, withdrawals, complaints, account limits and self-exclusion tools. A localised page, NZD wallet or country flag is not on its own regulatory proof.
New Zealand's online-gambling position is time-sensitive. Check the Department of Internal Affairs player guidance and our dated legal-status guide at the point of use. This review is about one game's rules and does not provide legal advice.
Even after an operator check, inspect the live game help. A valid operator relationship does not prove the highest RTP, and the right RTP does not prove operator status. Keeping both questions separate prevents a global demo from becoming an unsupported availability claim.
Source reconciliation
What the checked sources establish
The official product page establishes first-party authorship, public release status, layout, reference bets, headline features and the supported market game IDs. The loaded demo supplies the stronger operational evidence for rules, version, displayed RTP, purchase route and win-cap wording.
We opened the public Relax demo and read its Paytable & Game Rules panel dated 12/01/2026. It verifies the Dragon/Bonsai activation condition, five-coin meter sections, chest upgrades, feature-spin additions, 96.10% ordinary and mode return, 96.50% direct-buy return and 10,000x cap. The launch release independently supplies the date and medium-to-high volatility label.
Third-party reviews were used to find frequent questions and contradictions, not to override the live help. Competitors often print only the largest cap, omit the selected mode, describe alternative IDs as exact RTPs without a source, or treat global demo access as operator availability.
The evidence was checked on 6 October 2026. The date matters: Relax can update a client or product card, and operators can retain another certified build. Future checks should start with the deployed help and compare its identifier, version and return with this record.
We do not add a hit rate, feature frequency, universal volatility score, New Zealand operator claim or exact alternative RTP unless the checked first-party material supports it. An explicit evidence gap is preferable to a precise-looking number copied from another release.
Two-minute audit
Checklist before relying on this guide
- Match the full title Bonsai Dragon Blitz and developer Relax Gaming.
- Confirm game ID bonsaidragonblitz, help date 12 January 2026 and version 1.0.3 where shown.
- Check the layout: six reels, four rows and 4,096 adjacent-reel ways.
- Read feature triggers, reset rules and settlement order in the live help.
- Record the active RTP rather than assuming 96.10%.
- Confirm whether the cap is 10,000x.
- Read the displayed total stake after enabling any option.
- Verify operator identity and New Zealand access independently.
- Check promotional terms separately from game mathematics.
- Set money and time limits that remain acceptable if no feature arrives.
If the live help differs, use that deployed build and send the title, game ID, version, date and screenshot through our corrections process. That evidence lets us update one canonical review without creating duplicate RTP or bonus pages.

Questions answered
Frequently asked questions
What is the Bonsai Dragon Blitz RTP?
The official demo help dated 12 January 2026 and marked v1.0.3 states 96.10% for ordinary play and Bonsai Spins mode. The direct 50x feature purchase is listed at 96.50%.
How does the Dragon collect work?
A Dragon on reel one or six needs at least one Bonsai symbol to activate. It collects coin progress into the Bonsai meter; a second Dragon doubles the starting values shown by the meter.
What triggers Bonsai Spins?
Three or more Bonus symbols trigger the feature. The trigger count determines the initial spins, a Dragon is guaranteed on every feature spin, and each additional Bonus symbol during the feature adds one spin.
What is the maximum win?
The checked help caps the full game round at 10,000x the regular bet. The highest meter section is also labelled 10,000x, but the cap remains the settlement boundary.
Is Bonsai Dragon Blitz available in New Zealand?
The global product page and public demo do not prove operator-level availability in New Zealand. Check the operator and the live game help separately.
