Short answer
Evidence-led verdict
Moon Princess is Play’n GO Game ID 334, version 1.0, released on 26 July 2017. It uses a five-by-five grid rather than conventional paylines. A win needs three or more matching regular symbols connected in a straight horizontal or vertical row.
Winning symbols disappear and new ones drop into their places. A group of exactly three creates a Wild at its middle position. Each successive winning drop increases the multiplier, so one paid round can continue through several grid states without a new stake.
Girl Power can act after a non-winning base result: Love transforms symbols, Star adds Wilds and Storm removes symbol types. Princess combinations fill a Trinity meter. When full, it supplies one free round in which all three powers resolve in turn. Clearing the entire grid opens the separate Free Spins feature.
The official sheet lists five RTP builds from 96.5% to 84.5%, volatility level 6 and a maximum-event probability below one in one billion. The product record gives a 5,000x total-bet cap. These first-party values correct reviews that call the game a twenty-payline slot or require five-symbol clusters.

Release, version and title identity
The official record names the game simply Moon Princess and uses internal identifier “moonprincess.” Game ID 334 separates the original 2017 product from sequels, branded adaptations and similarly titled moon-themed slots.
The public release date is 26 July 2017. The checked Game Rules and Settings sheet is version 1.0 and lists mobile and desktop. Search pages that show another year may be reporting their own review publication or update rather than the product release.
Some competitor descriptions call the design a cluster game with five-symbol clusters or twenty paylines. The official help is more precise: three or more matching symbols must form a horizontal or vertical row; combinations can overlap. The math table’s “fixed 1” field is not twenty selectable lines.
We checked official sources on 6 October 2026. The product record establishes rules and identity but does not prove that any operator currently supplies it to New Zealand players.
Grid engine
Three-or-more connected wins on a 5x5 grid
The grid has five columns and five rows. At least three matching regular symbols must sit next to one another in a horizontal or vertical line. Diagonal contact alone does not connect them. Both rows and columns can pay, and the same symbol can participate in overlapping combinations.
This structure differs from conventional left-to-right paylines: a group does not need to begin in the first column. It also differs from common cluster rules that accept any edge-connected shape. The official wording focuses on horizontal and vertical rows, so a bent shape is evaluated through its qualifying straight combinations.
Wild substitutes for regular symbols. Princess symbols can participate in wins and also charge their matching Trinity meter sections. The paytable determines the value by symbol and count. A larger connected line is not automatically the sum of every possible three-symbol subset if the help pays it as one combination.
The math record lists twenty coins, a 0.20 reference minimum and a 100 maximum. “Fixed 1” is a model field for the grid’s evaluation route, not an invitation to describe one ordinary payline. The interface should be read through total bet.
There is no documented gamble feature. Wins continue through automatic drops where applicable; after the sequence resolves, the balance updates under the game help. A separate card or ladder gamble from another title should not be assumed.
One paid round
Drops, multiplier growth and created Wilds
After a win, all symbols in the qualifying combination disappear. New symbols drop into the spaces and the grid is evaluated again. This repeats until no further win forms. The entire sequence belongs to the original paid round.
Every new winning drop raises the drop multiplier. The multiplier applies to eligible awards in that stage, not retroactively to earlier wins. Once the paid round ends, the ordinary base-game multiplier resets.
When the removed winning combination contains exactly three symbols, a Wild appears at the middle symbol’s position. A four- or five-symbol combination does not create the Wild under this exact rule. The new Wild can support the next evaluation and may contribute to another cascade.
If only Wilds remain in a winning group, the rules allow them to be removed, helping the grid continue towards a full clear. Wild removal is not a separate cash prize unless it forms a payable combination under the table.
Clearing every position is significant because it triggers Free Spins; during Free Spins it also awards an instant 100x total bet. The clear must arise through the documented cascade process, not merely from a Girl Power animation that leaves unmatched positions.
Three princess effects
Love, Star and Storm powers
Girl Power can activate on a base-game round after the grid has no win. The available effect follows the active princess. Love transforms one selected regular symbol set into another, which can create new connected rows.
Star places one or two Wild symbols on the grid. Their value depends on whether the resulting positions connect eligible symbols. The effect does not promise a win, and the added Wilds do not carry a permanent multiplier of their own.
Storm removes two regular symbol types. New symbols drop into the vacated positions and can create another evaluation. Removed symbols are not automatically paid; the benefit is the changed grid and any new wins that follow.
The active princess rotates through the game’s order rather than allowing a player to call any power on demand. Timing a spin or changing stake cannot select the next effect. Girl Power is a random modifier within the mathematical model.
These base-game effects should be kept separate from the full Trinity free round and the selected-princess behaviour during Free Spins. The same names appear, but trigger timing and guaranteed use differ.
Meter feature
How the Trinity meter fills and resolves
Winning combinations of Love, Star or Storm symbols fill that princess’s meter. A three-symbol combination adds one section, four symbols add two, and five add three. Wilds can contribute to the winning combination under the substitution rule.
When the Trinity meter is full, one free round begins after the current cascade sequence ends. The drop multiplier resets for this round. The feature is not the same as the grid-clear Free Spins mode; it is one special no-cost round.
All three princess powers act in sequence during the Trinity round: Love, Star and Storm, following the order defined in help. Each effect resolves after no further win remains from the previous action. This can create multiple cascade chains within the one round.
The meter measures winning princess combinations, not every appearance of a princess symbol. A non-winning set does not fill it. A nearly full meter does not change the random probability of the next paid grid.
Once the Trinity round is complete, ordinary base-game progression resumes. The meter and powers are game-state features, not cash balances; leaving a game or changing operator can affect whether any state is retained.
Grid-clear feature
Choose a princess, initial spins and retriggers
Clearing the 5x5 grid in the base game triggers Free Spins. The player chooses one princess: Love awards four initial spins, Star five and Storm eight. The choice trades starting quantity against which power will trigger on non-winning feature spins.
The selected princess’s Girl Power activates whenever a Free Spin reaches a non-winning state. Love transforms symbols, Star adds Wilds and Storm removes symbols under their feature rules. The Trinity feature itself is not active during Free Spins.
The drop multiplier does not reset between Free Spins and can rise to 20x. This persistence differs from the base game, where a completed paid round returns the multiplier to its starting point. A persistent multiplier still requires a payable connected combination.
Filling the selected princess meter adds Free Spins: Love adds four, Star adds three and Storm adds two. The full feature is capped at twenty Free Spins, regardless of further meter progress near that limit.
Clearing the entire grid during Free Spins awards an instant 100x total bet, in addition to relevant cascade awards, subject to the 5,000x game cap. It does not automatically restart the princess selection or create a second independent feature bank.
Configuration menu
Five verified RTP settings
The official Game ID 334 sheet lists five alternative configurations. The highest value is not guaranteed at every operator, so the live information panel must be checked.
| Configuration | RTP | Theoretical house edge |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 96.5% | 3.5% |
| 2 | 94.51% | 5.49% |
| 3 | 91.49% | 8.51% |
| 4 | 87.5% | 12.5% |
| 5 | 84.5% | 15.5% |
RTP incorporates ordinary connected wins, cascades, Girl Power, Trinity and Free Spins over the long run. It is not a guarantee that a 96.5% build returns $96.50 from a $100 session.
The house edge is the mathematical complement of RTP. Either build can produce short-term wins or losses; personal demo results cannot identify the setting reliably.
Some older reviews show only 96.5% and omit configurable alternatives. That is incomplete for a current evaluation. Record the exact value displayed in the deployed game and its check date.
Different units
Volatility 6, 5,000x cap and exposure
The official math document rates volatility at level 6 and the product record calls it medium. Adjective scales differ between sites, so the numeric first-party value is the reproducible comparison point.
The product record lists 5,000x total bet as the maximum win. At a hypothetical $1 total stake, that boundary is $5,000 before operator terms. This example does not claim that NZD is supported.
The rules sheet lists maximum exposure of 500,000 at a reference maximum bet of 100 and a maximum-event probability below one in one billion. Exposure is a currency-model figure; it is not a 500,000x cap. Dividing it by the reference stake corresponds to the product’s 5,000x value.
Cascades and a multiplier up to 20x can make a round visually extended, but neither guarantees profit. Raising stake simply raises monetary exposure to every base spin.
Reference limits
Bet range and session management
The official sheet records a 0.20 reference minimum and 100 maximum with twenty coins. Operators can present different currency denominations and limits, so these figures are not guaranteed NZD stakes.
Because the game has a grid rather than selectable paylines, read the displayed total bet. The cascade sequence continues without a new debit, but every new base grid is another paid round.
Girl Power and a nearly full Trinity meter can encourage continuation. Neither is money already won, and neither makes the next base grid cheaper. Decide time and loss limits before those states appear.
Automatic or rapid play can accelerate spending even when cascades make some rounds last longer. The 5,000x cap is not a target and should not influence an affordable stake.
Interface literacy
Mobile, help and demo boundaries
The rules list mobile and desktop. On mobile, locate total bet, current RTP, drop multiplier, princess meters and the exact three-symbol horizontal-or-vertical rule. A compact display can hide these behind an information icon.
Play’n GO’s public experience is entertainment-only and awards no real money. A demo can show cascades, powers and meter sequencing, but a short sample cannot measure RTP or grid-clear probability.
Demo access does not establish New Zealand operator access or the configuration a real-money integration uses. Those require current operator-level evidence.
If a deployed client differs from version 1.0, record its Game ID, version and help. Do not import rules from Moon Princess 100, Moon Princess Trinity or another similarly branded title.
Operator-level proof
New Zealand availability is not assumed
This review verifies Play’n GO publication, not availability from a New Zealand-facing operator. A provider’s global page cannot prove market rights, operator status, payments or the active RTP.
The Department of Internal Affairs guidance was checked on 6 October 2026. The regulatory context is date-sensitive, including transition around 1 December 2026 and a later licensing process. Use the primary source and our dated legal-status guide; this is not legal advice.
Verify operator identity, age and location restrictions, payments, withdrawals, complaints, limits and exclusion tools. NZD or a local flag is not proof of authorisation.
Then check the product build separately. Accurate rules cannot validate an operator, and operator status does not guarantee the top RTP.

How Moon Princess differs from related games
Tome of the Lost also uses a 5x5 grid and cascades, but wins require clusters of four edge-connected symbols and progress charges a Compass. Moon Princess uses straight horizontal or vertical groups of three and princess meters.
Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead uses cluster rules, Ritual thresholds and a different 5,000x cap structure. Similar grid size is not a transferable mechanic.
The Play’n GO catalogue guide keeps the original and related products under exact URLs. Compare active RTP, connection rule, progress meter, feature limits and cap.
Moon Princess has remained visible for years, but age and popularity do not prove current operator availability or the highest return. Treat every current deployment as a fresh verification task.
Questions answered
Frequently asked questions
What is the Moon Princess RTP?
The Game ID 334 rules list 96.5%, 94.51%, 91.49%, 87.5% and 84.5%. These are alternative configurations; the live game help identifies the one deployed.
How are wins formed?
At least three matching regular symbols must connect in a horizontal or vertical row. Winning groups can overlap, disappear and allow new symbols to cascade into the 5x5 grid.
What does Girl Power do?
On a non-winning base round, Love can transform one symbol set into another, Star adds one or two Wilds, and Storm removes two regular symbol sets. The active princess determines which power can appear.
How many Free Spins are awarded?
Clearing the grid lets the player choose Love for four, Star for five or Storm for eight initial Free Spins. Meter retriggers add four, three or two respectively, with a maximum of twenty Free Spins.
What is the maximum win?
The product record lists 5,000x total bet. The 500,000 maximum-exposure number is a reference-currency field at the 100 maximum stake, not a 500,000x cap.
