Short answer

Evidence-led verdict

1001 Mystery Genie Fortunes is Play’n GO Game ID 985, version 1.0, released on 10 April 2025. It uses five reels and twenty fixed paylines. Wins begin on reel one and run left to right across adjacent reels, while Mystery symbols can alter the grid before a final result is evaluated.

The core loop has three connected systems. Mystery can reveal enhanced Wilds, a Magic Lamp or one ordinary symbol type. A Lamp creates an expanding Genie Wild and a respin; additional Lamps form a streak that raises its multiplier. Keys on ordinary symbols separately make the player eligible for Mystery Chest prizes.

Free Spins are triggered by three or more Scatters. During the feature, Mystery can reveal locked values, and Keys determine whether those locks are awarded. The rules set different retrigger quantities from the opening trigger and cap the sequence at forty free spins.

The official math sheet lists five RTP configurations from 96.2% to 84.2%, volatility level 5 and a maximum-event probability below one in one billion. The public product record lists a 1,234x cap. That modest-looking cap is distinct from the 1,001x Mega chest and from the 123,400 maximum-exposure field.

Exact product

Release, version and title identity

The official record spells the title 1001 Mystery Genie Fortunes and uses internal identifier “geniefortunes.” The combination of the number, provider and Game ID separates it from many similarly named genie, lamp and “1001” slots.

The public page records 10 April 2025 as the release date. The checked rules sheet is version 1.0 and covers mobile and desktop. Search snippets sometimes display publication dates for review pages rather than the game’s release; those dates are not interchangeable.

Play’n GO’s product page is useful for identity and the stake-relative maximum, while the Game Rules and Settings PDF supplies the exact alternative RTPs, volatility and feature wording. We use both because neither should be stretched beyond what it documents.

The evidence was checked on 6 October 2026. That date does not establish New Zealand operator availability. It records when the official sources supported the facts on this page.

Base engine

Five reels and twenty fixed paylines

The base game has five reels and twenty paylines that cannot be switched off individually. Matching pay symbols begin on the leftmost reel and continue across consecutive reels. If more than one award is possible for the same line, the help applies its highest-win rule.

Wild substitutes for ordinary pay symbols but not for Scatter, Mystery or other excluded feature symbols. Mystery does not pay as an ordinary line symbol. It resolves into one of its allowed outcomes, after which the game evaluates wins and any feature continuation.

The game records five coins in its math model and a reference total-bet range from 0.05 to 100. An operator interface may display only a total amount, and local currency denominations can differ. Twenty lines do not mean the displayed stake should be multiplied by twenty unless the live control explicitly labels a per-line value.

The gamble field is “No” in the official record. A generic Play’n GO card-gamble description should not be imported. The documented risk comes from the selected stake, spin count, active RTP and the game’s volatility, not from an after-win gamble stage.

Base spins can produce Mystery, Lamps, Keys and Scatters in combinations. Each system follows its own conditions. A Key alone has no cash value, and a Mystery symbol is not automatically a Wild until it reveals the corresponding outcome.

Transformation engine

Mystery Wilds, matching symbols and Lamps

Mystery symbols can appear on any spin. They resolve together into Mystery Wilds, Magic Lamps or matching regular symbols. Converting to the same regular symbol can create or extend line wins; it does not guarantee a win if positions fail to connect from reel one.

Mystery Wilds can carry enhanced multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. They substitute for eligible symbols. If two or more multiplier Wilds contribute to the same line, their multiplier values are added rather than multiplied together. A 2x and 3x combination therefore creates 5x for that line, not 6x.

The enhanced Wild does not substitute for Scatter or Magic Lamp. That boundary keeps a Wild reveal from fabricating a Free Spins trigger or extending a Lamp streak. Always follow the visible transformation before interpreting the result.

Mystery-to-regular conversion and Mystery-to-Wild are evaluated on the current grid. The feature does not permanently alter reel strips or future symbol frequency. A conspicuous group of Mystery symbols remains a random event, not progress towards a guaranteed outcome.

During Free Spins, some revealed regular symbols can display locks. The lock logic is conditional on Keys and is explained separately; it should not be assumed on an ordinary base-game reveal.

Respin sequence

Magic Lamp, expanding Genie Wild and streaks

When Mystery reveals a Magic Lamp, the Lamp summons an expanding Genie Wild and starts a respin. The Genie expands vertically on its reel, and the following respin is guaranteed to contain at least one new Mystery symbol.

If another Lamp is revealed on that respin, a streak continues. The next expanding Wild receives a multiplier: the first upgrade is 2x, then later consecutive Lamps can increase it. From the sixth consecutive Lamp onward, the multiplier is capped at 5x.

The expanding Wild remains for the respin triggered by its Lamp; it is not described as a permanent locked reel across an unlimited sequence. New Mystery symbols determine whether another Lamp arrives and keeps the streak alive.

The official rules cap the sequence at thirty respins. Reaching the cap is not a normal expectation and does not bypass the 1,234x game maximum. A multiplier on the expanding Wild changes eligible line awards, not Chest prize values unless the live rules explicitly link them.

The guarantee of a new Mystery during a Lamp respin does not guarantee another Lamp. The new symbol may reveal a Wild or regular-symbol outcome. Treat the streak as conditional, not as a fixed ladder once the first Lamp appears.

Key eligibility

Mystery Chest prizes and how Keys matter

The Mystery Chest can activate on any spin when one or more eligible Keys are present. More Keys increase its chance. A Key is attached to a regular symbol on the reels; Keys do not arise from symbols created by a Mystery reveal.

The official prize levels are Mini at 5x total bet, Minor at 20x, Major at 100x and Mega at 1,001x. These are named fixed multiples, not progressive jackpots and not operator-funded cash pools. “Mega” describes the highest Chest tier.

Having a Key creates eligibility but does not promise that the Chest will open. More Keys improve the documented chance without disclosing a player-controllable probability. A spin with several Keys can still resolve without a Chest award.

The 1,001x Mega prize is lower than the product’s 1,234x overall cap. That leaves room for other simultaneous awards while keeping the entire resolved result within the cap. It is incorrect to replace the game cap with the headline Chest value.

Keys also interact with locks during Free Spins. A Key appearing in that feature can multiply the award from eligible locked values by the number of Keys. That calculation is distinct from the random Chest selection.

Feature rules

Scatter triggers, locks and retriggers

Scatters can appear across the reels. In the base game, three award eight Free Spins, four award twelve and five award fifteen. The Scatter award and the feature entry are both controlled by the paytable rather than an assumed “three equals ten” convention.

During Free Spins, three, four or five Scatters add three, five or eight spins respectively. The retrigger table therefore differs from the opening awards. The full sequence is capped at forty Free Spins.

Mystery can reveal regular symbols carrying lock values from 1x to 5x total bet. When Keys are present under the documented condition, these locked values are awarded and multiplied by the number of Keys. A 3x lock with two eligible Keys is interpreted through this feature rule, not as a payline multiplier.

Locked regular symbols and multiplier Wilds are separate objects. A regular symbol can carry a lock value; a Mystery Wild can multiply a line; a Key can enable or scale locks. Collapsing all three into a generic multiplier feature creates false expectations.

Free Spins still use random outcomes. Eight, twelve or fifteen opening spins describe the quantity supplied, not a minimum return. The forty-spin ceiling is a hard limit, not a target meter.

Configuration menu

Five verified RTP settings

The official Game Rules and Settings sheet lists the following alternatives. The deployed information screen must be checked because the existence of a 96.2% build does not prove it is the one an operator uses.

ConfigurationRTPTheoretical house edge
196.2%3.8%
294.2%5.8%
391.2%8.8%
487.2%12.8%
584.2%15.8%

RTP combines base wins, Mystery outcomes, Lamp respins, Free Spins and Chest prizes across the model. It is not a separate return guarantee for each component. A long Lamp streak can occur within any certified configuration without identifying that setting.

Theoretical house edge is the complement of RTP, not a fee taken evenly from each spin. Short sessions can finish above or below either figure. Neither demo play nor personal result tracking can reliably reverse-engineer a configuration.

Some search results show one rounded 96% value or a 96.20% number without alternatives. That is incomplete for an evaluation query. Record the exact live figure and date of check.

Different units

Volatility level 5, 1,234x cap and exposure

The rules document assigns volatility level 5; the product record characterises it as medium. Provider scales are not universal, so comparing the number is more reliable than transferring “medium-high” wording from another site.

The product record’s maximum win is 1,234x total bet. At a hypothetical $1 total stake, the upper boundary is $1,234 before operator rules. The example explains scaling and does not claim the game accepts NZD.

The math sheet lists maximum exposure of 123,400 at its reference maximum bet of 100 and says the maximum event is less likely than one in one billion. Exposure is a reference-currency figure. Dividing 123,400 by 100 aligns with the 1,234x cap; it is not a 123,400x award.

The Mega Chest is 1,001x and therefore not the same as the maximum. The volatility rating does not make either event frequent. Session risk is driven by stake, spin count and the active RTP as well as feature distribution.

Reference limits

Bet range and practical exposure

The official sheet records a reference minimum of 0.05 and maximum of 100 with five coins. Operators can use different denominations and currency displays, so these numbers should not be advertised as guaranteed NZD limits.

Twenty fixed lines do not necessarily create twenty separate stake controls. Read the interface’s total bet. If a display offers coin value and coin count, verify the calculated debit before spinning.

Respins awarded by the Lamp and triggered Free Spins do not take a new stake, but every fresh base spin does. A streak can make one paid round last longer; it does not make continued paid rounds cost-free after the feature ends.

Set time and loss limits before Keys or a near-miss presentation creates pressure to continue. Keys are not stored value, and an unopened Chest is not a debt the game must repay.

Interface literacy

Mobile, help and demo boundaries

The official record lists mobile and desktop support. On mobile, open help and locate current RTP, total bet, twenty-line rule, Mystery outcomes, Lamp streak ceiling, Chest levels and the forty-spin limit. Portrait layouts may hide these fields behind a menu.

Play’n GO’s public experience is entertainment-only and provides no real-money award. It can demonstrate transformations and the order of a Lamp respin, but a sample cannot measure return or forecast Chest frequency.

Demo access is not New Zealand operator evidence. It proves only that a provider makes a public experience available under its own terms. Real-money access, location restrictions and configuration require a separate operator check.

If a live client differs from version 1.0, use the deployed help for that build and document the Game ID, version and date. Do not fill missing rules from another genie title.

Operator-level proof

New Zealand availability is not assumed

This page establishes that Play’n GO documents the product. It does not say a named operator offers it to New Zealand players. A provider catalogue cannot establish territorial rights, operator status, payments or active RTP.

The Department of Internal Affairs player guidance was checked on 6 October 2026. The regulatory context is time-sensitive, including the transition around 1 December 2026 and a later licensing process. Read the primary source and our dated legal-status guide; this is not legal advice.

Verify operator identity, age and location rules, current legal position, account ownership, deposits, withdrawals, complaints, limits and exclusion tools. A local currency menu or New Zealand flag is not proof of authorisation.

Then verify the game separately. A legitimate operator can deploy a lower certified RTP, and accurate product rules cannot make an operator legitimate.

Exact-title navigation

How it differs from other Play’n GO games

Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead uses selectable paylines, ten Free Spins and a selected expanding symbol. It has no Mystery-to-Lamp respin chain or Key-driven Chest.

Ghost Booster! GO Guaranteed has a guarantee meter and Hold & Spin structure. Its feature values and cap cannot be used to interpret Genie Fortunes.

The Play’n GO catalogue guide separates exact game records from shared themes. Compare RTP menu, line or cluster model, feature limits, cap and live operator configuration.

A 1,234x cap is smaller than many headline maxima, but caps do not rank entertainment value or typical return. Use any game only with money and time already allocated for recreation.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of 1001 Mystery Genie Fortunes?

The official Game ID 985 rules list five alternatives: 96.2%, 94.2%, 91.2%, 87.2% and 84.2%. Check the deployed client to identify which one an operator uses.

What can a Mystery symbol reveal?

It can reveal Mystery Wilds, a Magic Lamp or matching regular symbols. In Free Spins, it can also reveal regular symbols carrying lock values under the feature rules.

How do Magic Lamp respins work?

A revealed Lamp summons an expanding Genie Wild and awards a respin with at least one new Mystery. Consecutive Lamps build a streak, increasing the next expanding Wild multiplier up to 5x. The sequence caps at thirty respins.

What are the Mystery Chest prizes?

The rules list Mini 5x, Minor 20x, Major 100x and Mega 1,001x total bet. Keys on regular symbols are required for Chest eligibility; more collected Keys increase the chance.

What is the maximum win?

The official product record lists 1,234x total bet. The rules sheet’s maximum exposure of 123,400 is a reference-currency amount at its maximum bet, not a 123,400x cap.
