Stake crypto casino: NZ eligibility, account terms and evidence review

Stake.com is operated by Medium Rare N.V. under Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/1451/0918. New Zealand was not named in the prohibited-jurisdictions list checked on 6 October 2026, but the terms require use to be lawful where the player is located and do not prove Stake’s participation in New Zealand’s current transition. No authenticated NZ cashier or account was tested, so eligibility, networks, limits and game access remain unconfirmed.

Short answer

NZ availability remains unconfirmed

Stake's current public terms do not put New Zealand in the named prohibited-jurisdictions list. That is relevant evidence, but it is not affirmative permission. The same contract says users must access from a place where the service is legal, makes the user responsible for legality, permits location and blockchain analysis, and prohibits VPN or proxy circumvention.

The New Zealand online-casino regime is in transition. Nothing in the Stake materials checked for this review established that Medium Rare N.V. meets the New Zealand transitional condition, participated successfully in the local process or holds a New Zealand licence. A public site loading from an IP address cannot fill that gap.

We did not register, deposit, complete KYC or access an authenticated cashier. Therefore this review does not claim that an NZ resident can create an account, that a particular coin or network is enabled, that a withdrawal succeeds, or that any title is locally available.

The verdict is evidence-led rather than promotional: Stake's operator identity and global terms can be documented; current NZ eligibility and account-level payment access cannot. Readers should seek written operator confirmation and recheck DIA before acting.

Contracting party

Medium Rare N.V., payment agents and official domain

The terms say registering at www.stake.com creates a contract with Medium Rare N.V., headquartered at Seru Loraweg 17 B, Curaçao. The policies footer adds registration number 145353. It identifies the licence as Curaçao Gaming Authority number OGL/2024/1451/0918.

Medium Rare Limited, registration HE 410775 in Cyprus, and MRS Tech Ltd, registration HE 477481 in Cyprus, may process payments. The terms describe them as wholly owned subsidiaries or payment agents, not the gambling counterparty. Reviews should not replace Medium Rare N.V. with a processor.

The official domain named in the agreement is stake.com. Lookalike domains, country mirrors, apps and social accounts should not be assumed to carry the same contract. A redirect should land on the exact secured domain before credentials are entered.

The licence is a Curaçao record claimed by the operator. It does not constitute a New Zealand licence and should not be presented as local approval. Scope, status and domain relationship should be rechecked in the regulator's official system when making a current licence claim.

The English version is the controlling legal text according to clause 3.6, even when the site serves another language route. This matters because our accessible crawl surfaced a translated URL while the substance stated that English prevails.

Country restrictions and the missing affirmative NZ permission

Clause 14.3 lists prohibited jurisdictions including Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and many others. New Zealand was not named in the version checked. The list also applies to a person physically located in a prohibited place even if they are a citizen or resident elsewhere.

Clauses 4.5 and 5.1 are broader. They say Stake will not accept people where gambling is illegal or not permitted, state that Stake cannot verify legality in every jurisdiction, and make lawful use the user's responsibility. Omission from a list is therefore not a guarantee.

The contract forbids manipulating location information or using a VPN, proxy or similar service to circumvent geoblocking. It says Stake may examine device properties, geolocation and IP masking and can use transaction and blockchain analysis. A VPN accessibility test would contradict rather than prove eligibility.

Stake can refuse an account application at its discretion and can ask for location documents. A successful registration screen or deposit address would not prove continuing eligibility, because verification can occur later and withdrawals can be restricted until identity and location are sufficiently determined.

No current Stake source reviewed expressly said “New Zealand residents are permitted”. No NZ regulator record was supplied. The appropriate editorial wording is “not named in the checked prohibition list, but permission remains unconfirmed”.

National evidence chain

Stake and New Zealand’s online-casino transition

The Department of Internal Affairs describes a date-sensitive transition under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026. Our national legal-status guide owns that framework so this operator review does not duplicate or freeze it.

A foreign operator requires brand-specific evidence under the current timetable. We found no official record in the supplied Stake sources that establishes participation, exemption or a New Zealand licence. A Curaçao licence, global user count or localised page is not a substitute.

This page does not give personal legal advice. The user should check the current DIA player guidance immediately before any decision and ask Stake to confirm eligibility in writing. If the terms and support answer conflict, do not deposit until the operator formally resolves the conflict.

Operator eligibility, payment availability and game configuration remain three separate questions. Even if Stake later proves an NZ route, the authenticated cashier and each game's live help still need checks.

Verification can happen later

Registration, one-account rule and KYC

Registration requires personal information including email, full name, date of birth and address. Applicants must be at least 18 or the higher applicable legal age. Stake can request proof of age and suspend the account until documentation is satisfactory.

The terms permit KYC documents at any time to establish identity and location. Stake may restrict the service, payments or withdrawals until verification is sufficient. Its AML policy describes risk-based customer due diligence and ongoing monitoring.

Enhanced checks may request full legal name, citizenship, permanent address, tax or passport identifiers, photo ID, source of funds and source of wealth. Third-party verification services may be used. Crypto use therefore does not imply an anonymous account.

Only one account per player is allowed. Multiple accounts can be closed, balances retained during investigation and future use banned. An account must be personal and payment methods must belong to the user.

Two-factor authentication is recommended by the terms. It should be enabled before value is deposited. Login credentials, seed phrases and private keys should never be shared; KYC does not require handing over wallet recovery words.

Casino balance is not self-custody

Crypto custody and player-fund wording

The terms permit deposits from crypto wallets under the user's control. Once sent and credited, the value becomes an account balance managed under the Stake contract. The user no longer controls the deposited keys merely because the original transfer used a blockchain.

Clause 9.1 says deposits and winnings are held in separate customer bank accounts or crypto wallet for wagering and related fees. This is a contractual fund-protection statement, not a bank guarantee, deposit insurance or proof of solvency.

The terms expressly say Stake is not a financial institution and that cryptocurrency value can change dramatically. A win measured in coin units can rise or fall in fiat terms before withdrawal. Game result and asset-price movement are separate risks.

Transactions and wallet ownership can be reviewed for AML. Unsupported assets, wrong networks and address errors are not resolved by the general fund-protection statement. Exact network instructions from the authenticated cashier control the transfer.

Do not treat the Vault or internal balance as a self-custody wallet without clear terms. An interface label cannot replace key ownership. If the operator controls withdrawal approval, it remains custodial in practical use.

Public guide is not a live account

Cryptoassets, networks, limits and fees remain account-level checks

Stake publishes a general guide naming BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, BCH, TRX, EOS, USDT, BNB, CRO, USDC, APE, DAI, LINK, SAND, SHIB, UNI, MATIC, SOL and XRP. That guide is discovery evidence, not proof that every asset or network is available to a current NZ account.

The terms say available methods, minimums and maximums appear in the wallet section, may vary by country and can change. Fees from Stake or payment providers may apply and should be displayed where relevant. Because no authenticated NZ wallet was accessed, this review publishes no current cashier table.

Network matters as much as ticker. USDT or USDC can run on multiple chains. Sending to the wrong chain or omitting a required tag can make recovery difficult or impossible. The exact deposit screen should provide asset, network, address format, minimum and confirmation requirements.

The public guide contains promotional statements about speed, anonymity and investment prospects that are not safe substitutes for cashier evidence. This review does not repeat those promises. Blockchain transfers can be traceable, delayed or screened, and asset values can fall.

A useful account-level record would capture the logged-in wallet on the check date without completing a transaction: coin, network, minimum, maximum, operator fee, network fee, conversion moment and withdrawal route. Until then, each field is unverified.

Approval conditions first

Withdrawal rules, 100% wagering and enhanced checks

Stake can refuse a withdrawal until identity is verified, the destination belongs to the account holder, requested information is provided and the minimum wagering requirement is met. The terms require wagering 100% of each deposit value before a crypto or fiat withdrawal request.

Withdrawals generally use the same payment method as the deposit unless Stake decides otherwise or cannot do so. When several methods were used, Stake can split the withdrawal. Crypto requests are sent to the wallet address stated by the player.

Additional KYC can be performed for any withdrawal. The operator may investigate activity and delay or decline deposits, withdrawals or play while doing so, and says it may not explain the nature of the investigation.

The minimum withdrawal is shown at the point of request. Stake may charge a fee at its discretion and third-party fees can apply. No universal processing speed is promised in the controlling clauses, so this review publishes no “instant payout” rating.

A valid blockchain address does not guarantee approval. Internal review occurs before or alongside transfer processing. Keep the transaction ID, withdrawal screen, terms version and support correspondence if a problem occurs.

Third-party and house content

Game catalogue, RTP and fairness checks

Stake's navigation exposes slots, live casino, roulette, blackjack, poker, publishers and Stake Engine or vendor content. The list can vary by jurisdiction and login state. A global publisher page is not proof of availability to an NZ account.

Third-party slots need exact provider and title verification. Open the game's help for RTP, version, stakes, evaluation rules and maximum win. Supplier games can support several RTP profiles while looking identical.

Clause 10.5 says Stake may adjust the house edge of slot games and instructs users to contact support where Stake's house-edge value conflicts with in-game RTP. This unusual wording makes the live information panel and any operator-displayed house-edge field especially important. A review should publish the discrepancy rather than choose the more favourable figure.

Stake Originals or provably fair games require their own verification method: server-seed commitment, client seed, nonce and reproduction formula. “Provably fair” for one in-house game does not validate third-party slots, operator withdrawals or account eligibility.

No personal gameplay or deposit test was performed. This page therefore provides no invented win rate, catalogue count, loading-speed score or “tested payout” claim.

No copied headline bonuses

Promotions and bonus conditions

The terms say promotions may be offered at Stake's discretion and are governed by offer-specific rules. A registered user may be eligible; eligibility is not guaranteed. Stake can withdraw or modify an offer.

Cash balances are used for wagers before bonus balances according to the general terms. Expiry dates come from the specific offer, while unclaimed bonuses can be cancelled within the claiming period or 60 days, whichever is shorter.

Stake can deny or remove bonuses and restrict an account where it believes abuse occurred. Multiple accounts used to accumulate promotions are explicitly abusive. These broad rights make the exact offer terms essential.

No current NZ bonus was verified, so this article publishes no amount, code, wagering target or rating. A marketing banner available to another country is not an NZ offer.

The sponsored buttons on this page lead through `/go/atlas/gold.php` to a separate offer. They are deliberately not labelled “Play Stake” and must not be interpreted as a Stake promotion.

Tools need account confirmation

Gambling limits, breaks and self-exclusion

Stake's current help describes account-level gambling limits, Break in Play, product exclusion and full self-exclusion. Product exclusion can block Casino or Sports while leaving other account functions available; the exact durations and return rules must be read when applying.

The help record checked describes Break in Play periods including 24 hours, two days, one week and one month. A break blocks activity until automatic reopening at the selected end time.

Full self-exclusion is described as indefinite with a minimum six-month period before a return-to-play review. It does not automatically reactivate. Current account instructions should be followed, and support can be contacted if the control is inaccessible.

Crypto price movement can make coin-denominated limits unstable in household-budget terms. Set a separate affordable fiat reference and do not treat a rising asset value as additional gambling capacity.

If gambling is no longer recreational, stop depositing and use the New Zealand contacts on the site's responsible gambling page. Operator tools are not a substitute for independent help.

First-line route

Support, complaints and governing law

The terms list support@stake.com and logged-in live chat, described as available 24/7. This is a stated service channel, not a measured response-time score. We did not submit a complaint or test support.

Complaints begin with Stake customer service. The governing-law clause selects Curaçao law and Curaçao courts for disputes, subject to the clause's wording. That can create practical distance and cost for a New Zealand user.

The terms say management decisions concerning use or dispute resolution are final and not open to review, while the later disputes clause points users to remedies under the governing law. This is a material contractual posture and should be read in full, not reduced to a star rating.

Save emails, chat transcripts, account IDs, transaction hashes, screenshots and the terms version. Do not send seed phrases, private keys or remote-device access to anyone claiming to be support.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

Does Stake currently permit New Zealand players?

The checked prohibited-country list did not name New Zealand, but the terms require lawful use and provide no proof of Stake’s status under New Zealand’s current transition. Without operator confirmation and current official evidence, availability remains unconfirmed.

Who operates Stake.com?

The current terms identify Medium Rare N.V. in Curaçao as the contracting operator and name Medium Rare Limited and MRS Tech Limited as payment-processing subsidiaries.

Which cryptocurrencies and networks are available?

Stake publishes a general coin guide, but this review did not access an authenticated NZ cashier. Current assets, networks, minimums, maximums and fees for an NZ account are therefore unverified.

Does Stake require KYC?

Yes. The terms allow identity and location documents at any time and permit restrictions on service, payments or withdrawals until verification is sufficient. Enhanced checks can include source of funds and wealth.

Does the sponsored button open Stake?

No. It opens a separate sponsored destination through the existing site route. It is not labelled Play Stake and provides no evidence about Stake.
