Short answer

Evidence-led verdict

Book of Dead GO Collect is not an RTP setting or optional mode inside the original Book of Dead. It is a separate Play'n GO game released on 26 February 2026, documented as Game ID 1021, version 1.0. Its base layout is five reels by three rows with ten fixed paylines. It combines a familiar book scatter and expanding-symbol free spins with a separate collection system built around Gold Staters and the Treasure Vault.

The mathematical record lists high volatility at level 7 and a 10,000-times-total-bet maximum win. Five RTP configurations are documented: 96.2%, 94.2%, 91.2%, 87.2% and 84.2%. Those values are alternative deployments. A review that prints only 96.2% without the configuration warning does not establish what a reader will see in a particular game client.

The Treasure Vault begins with three respins. Collected values remain in place for the feature, and a new Stater resets the respin counter to three. Regular values run from 1x to 5x total bet, while four named bonus values run from Mini at 10x to Grand at 500x. The product page also describes an optional Treasure Gamble after the Vault, where the feature total may be doubled or lost, up to four decisions. That optional risk deserves more attention than the theme.

Release status, version and identity

The official Play'n GO page lists the release date as 26 February 2026. The game rules identify the internal name “bookofdeadgc,” Game ID 1021 and version 1.0. These details are the quickest way to distinguish GO Collect from the 2016 Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead and from unrelated pages that use “Book of Dead” as a broad keyword.

The release is listed for mobile and desktop. That is a product-format statement, not proof that it is currently distributed by a New Zealand operator. A studio can publish a global game while operators choose their own catalogues and approved RTP configurations. The live information screen remains the place to match title, version and percentage.

GO Collect adds mechanics, but it does not replace the earlier game. Its ten lines are fixed rather than selectable; its Tomb Scatter has a specified scatter award; and Gold Staters feed a respin vault that does not exist in the original. The free-spin feature remains separate from the collection feature, and the rule sheet specifically says Staters cannot be awarded during free spins.

Because the game is recent, summaries written before final release or based on preview material may differ from the issued rules. This page uses the current official record checked on 6 October 2026. If a later deployed version changes a field, that new in-client rule should control and the article should be updated with a new check date.

Core evaluation

Five reels, fixed lines and the Tomb Scatter

The base game uses five reels, three visible positions and ten fixed paylines. Ordinary line wins read from the leftmost reel to the right across adjacent reels. Only the highest winning combination on a selected line is paid. Because all ten lines are fixed, the player adjusts total bet rather than choosing a smaller subset of lines.

The Tomb symbol is both Scatter and Wild. As Wild, it substitutes for ordinary paying symbols. As Scatter, it can land on any reel and does not need to follow an ordinary payline. The official rules list scatter awards of 2x total bet for three Tombs, 20x for four and 200x for five. Three or more also start the free-spin feature.

Two feature-specific exceptions matter. The Tomb Scatter is evaluated anywhere, and the selected expanding symbol during free spins can pay across non-adjacent reels when the expansion condition is satisfied. Those exceptions should not be read as an “all ways” base game. Standard symbols still use the ten line patterns and left-to-right adjacency.

The paytable inside the exact client contains the symbol-level awards. We do not duplicate every symbol value because it would add a second, potentially stale copy of the game help. For evaluation, the useful checks are fixed ten-line coverage, total stake, the Tomb's dual role and the distinction between ordinary line wins and feature evaluation.

Fixed means fixedUnlike the original Book of Dead, GO Collect does not ask the player to activate fewer paylines. Compare total bet across all ten fixed lines.

Collection layer

How Gold Staters work in the base game

Gold Staters can attach to all non-scatter symbols during the base game. They are a collection marker, not a replacement for the underlying line symbol. The official rules explain that collecting more Gold Staters increases the chance of entering the Treasure Vault. They do not state that a particular small count guarantees the feature, so a review should not invent a fixed trigger threshold.

The number visible before a spin is not a prediction that the Vault is due. Random outcomes remain independent under the certified model. A growing collection can be part of the game's state and presentation, but it does not give the player control over the next reel stop. The practical check is whether the interface clearly explains the collection and whether a reset condition is disclosed.

Gold Staters cannot be awarded during free spins under the current rule sheet. That boundary is important because some summaries merge the two features and imply that the collection continues everywhere. The official sequence keeps the base-game collection, Vault respins and expanding-symbol free spins as distinct rule states.

If a deployed version uses different terminology, open its information page and compare the game ID. Do not assume that any gold-framed symbol has the same value as a regular 1x-to-5x Stater in the Vault. The printed value and feature state determine the award.

Hold-and-respin sequence

Treasure Vault values, respins and gamble

When the Treasure Vault starts, the game awards three respins. Collected Staters lock into the feature grid, and every newly landed Stater resets the remaining respin count to three. The sequence ends when the counter reaches zero or the feature otherwise reaches its documented conclusion. At the end, the displayed Stater values are summed.

Regular Staters carry total-bet multipliers from 1x to 5x. Four Bonus Staters have named fixed values: Mini 10x, Minor 20x, Major 100x and Grand 500x. These labels are feature awards, not progressive jackpots and not dollar amounts. A 500x Grand means 500 times the total triggering bet within the game's rules.

The official product page also describes the Treasure Gamble after a completed Vault. It can offer a choice to risk the whole collected amount for a chance to double it, with a loss removing the amount. The decision may be repeated up to four times. Because the entire feature total is at risk, the gamble is not a free enhancement and does not improve the underlying value merely because a larger headline win is possible.

Availability of a gamble control can depend on deployment and jurisdiction. If it appears, read its odds, cap and stop controls in the live help. Declining a gamble preserves the completed feature award under the stated flow; accepting it adds a separate all-or-nothing decision.

Separate feature state

Free spins and the expanding symbol

Three or more Tomb Scatter symbols award ten free spins. Before the feature plays, one regular non-scatter symbol is selected as the special expanding symbol. When enough copies land to generate an additional win, symbols on relevant reels can expand to cover those reels. The special symbols do not have to be on adjacent reels to create the feature win.

Three or more Tombs during the feature award ten additional spins. The current rules cap the accumulated free-spin count at 80. That cap belongs to GO Collect and should not be transferred to the original game or Legacy. It describes the feature's upper spin allowance, not the maximum monetary return.

Gold Staters are not awarded during free spins. The selected expander is therefore the central feature mechanic. A selected high-value symbol can increase potential, but it does not guarantee that enough copies will land or that the expansion condition will be met. A low-return feature is compatible with the rules.

Retriggers add spins; they do not say that another expanding symbol is selected. If a review describes multiple selected symbols, verify whether it has confused GO Collect with Legacy of Dead. The exact in-game rules should settle the question.

Configuration menu

Verified RTP settings

The official rules list five alternative theoretical return values. The top value is not a universal default, and all five should be disclosed when the goal is to evaluate configuration risk.

ConfigurationRTPTheoretical house edge
196.2%3.8%
294.2%5.8%
391.2%8.8%
487.2%12.8%
584.2%15.8%

The house-edge column is simply 100% minus RTP. It illustrates the long-run difference between settings; it does not tell a player what one feature or session will cost. High volatility can produce large short-term deviations at every configuration.

Open the live game's help or information panel and look for the percentage. If the operator page and client disagree, the client for the deployed game is the more relevant record. Do not estimate RTP from demo results, recent wins or the frequency of Gold Staters. Those observations are too small and too variable to identify a mathematical configuration.

The optional gamble also needs careful interpretation. Its presence can change the path of a realised feature return, but accepting or declining it does not rewrite the base game's published RTP in a way a short session can verify. Use the stated game rules and do not assume a doubling choice is advantageous.

Mathematical limits

Volatility, win cap and rarity

The public record rates GO Collect 7 for volatility and describes it as high. That profile fits a design with multiple feature paths and concentrated multipliers, but the label remains descriptive. It cannot indicate when the Vault, Grand value or free spins will occur.

The maximum win is 10,000x total bet. Keep the multiplier attached to “total bet,” especially because all ten paylines are fixed. At a hypothetical $1 total bet, the cap corresponds to $10,000 before any operator-specific term. This example is only arithmetic and does not confirm NZD support or availability.

The rule sheet lists maximum exposure of 500,000 and a probability of less than 1 in one billion. That field is a separate currency-based model limit at maximum stake. It is not a 500,000x win cap. The “less than” probability language should also be preserved; converting it into a more precise number would add accuracy that the source does not provide.

A large cap can coexist with a wide range of much smaller outcomes. Vault labels such as Grand can sound like jackpots, but the verified Grand is a fixed 500x multiplier. Neither a named bonus nor a near-full grid means a future top result is owed.

Stake controls

Bet range and exposure

The rules document a minimum bet of 0.1 and maximum of 50 in their reference setup, with one coin recorded in the mathematical table. These generic currency values should not be relabelled as New Zealand dollars. A live operator may use different denominations or account limits.

Because the lines are fixed, focus on the displayed total bet. A multiplier in the Vault, free spins or maximum-win record applies to that total. Before changing denomination, check how the total shown beside the spin control changes. Fast or automatic play can accelerate spending without improving the percentage.

The gamble can risk a feature amount already won. If it is offered, the decision should fit within the original loss and time limits; it should not be treated as house money that carries no value. Four possible repeats can create a large headline multiplier or remove the collected award.

Predetermine a budget, use time reminders, avoid chasing a lost Vault gamble and stop when the limit is reached. The game's high volatility and configurable RTP make those controls more relevant than any betting pattern.

Interface and practice

Mobile support, help and demo boundaries

Play'n GO lists mobile and desktop formats. On mobile, locate the information panel, total-bet display, Stater explanation, Vault value table and gamble rules before play. The collection state should not obscure balance or stop controls. If text is clipped or the percentage cannot be found, do not substitute a search-engine snippet.

An official entertainment-only page can be useful for learning where controls sit. Demo credits are not money, and a sample cannot establish frequency, RTP or New Zealand operator access. We do not embed the game or promise that public demo access will remain available in every territory.

Use demo mode for interface questions: how the respin counter resets, where collected values are shown, how to decline the gamble and how free-spin rules are opened. Do not treat a quick Grand or a dry sample as representative. Random variance is especially visible in short tests.

Record the version and date if the help differs from this page. A recent title can receive documentation updates, and a platform can deploy a different approved configuration. Transparent version matching is more reliable than assuming every screen with similar artwork is identical.

Availability needs evidence

New Zealand access and regulatory context

This page does not state that GO Collect is available for real-money play in New Zealand. The official studio page proves publication by Play'n GO; it does not identify a current New Zealand operator or its legal status. Operator catalogue, geography and RTP configuration require a separate, dated check.

New Zealand's Department of Internal Affairs publishes current player information about the Online Casino Gambling Act and transition timetable. At the 6 October 2026 check, its page described changes around 1 December 2026 and the later licensing stage. Use that official source and our legal-status guide for the local framework.

Before following any commercial route, verify operator identity, age eligibility, account checks, payments, complaints and self-exclusion tools. A page offering New Zealand dollars is not by itself proof of authorisation. Do not bypass location, identity or age controls.

Game evaluation and operator evaluation should remain separate. A well-documented rule sheet does not validate a website, and an operator's legal status does not guarantee that it deploys the highest RTP.

Two-minute audit

Verification checklist

  1. Confirm the full title includes “GO Collect” and the provider is Play'n GO.
  2. Look for Game ID 1021 or version 1.0 in current help where available.
  3. Record which of the five RTP settings is displayed.
  4. Confirm five reels, three rows and ten fixed paylines.
  5. Check that Gold Staters are limited to the base game and read the Vault trigger wording.
  6. Verify the three-respin reset and 1x–5x, 10x, 20x, 100x and 500x values.
  7. Read the optional Treasure Gamble before accepting it.
  8. Confirm ten free spins, the 80-spin cap and the selected-symbol rule.
  9. Review the operator's current status and payout limits independently.

For the studio catalogue and series map, use the Play'n GO guide. For the earlier selectable-line title, use our Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead review. Keeping them on separate URLs prevents the GO Collect mechanics from overwriting the original rules.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Book of Dead GO Collect?

The official rules checked on 6 October 2026 list five options: 96.2%, 94.2%, 91.2%, 87.2% and 84.2%. A live deployment can use one of them, so check the information screen rather than assuming the highest value.

How does the Treasure Vault start?

Gold Staters attach to non-scatter symbols in the base game, and collecting more increases the chance of entering the Treasure Vault. Once the feature begins, three respins are awarded and every new Stater resets the counter to three.

What are the Treasure Vault bonus values?

The current rule sheet lists Mini at 10x, Minor at 20x, Major at 100x and Grand at 500x. Regular collected values range from 1x to 5x. Values are total-bet multipliers and are summed when the feature ends.

Is the maximum win 10,000x?

Yes, the official product record states a maximum win of 10,000 times total bet. That is a ceiling, not an expected outcome. The rule sheet separately documents maximum exposure of 500,000 at maximum bet.

Do Gold Staters appear during free spins?

No. The checked official rules state that Gold Staters cannot be awarded during free spins. The free-spin feature uses its own selected expanding symbol mechanic.
