Short answer
Evidence-led verdict
Troll's Gold is a Relax Gaming first-party title identified in the checked demo as trollsgold. the current official help package checked on 6 October 2026 does not expose a human-readable version number or date; the official launch announcement is dated 24 August 2021. The rules describe five reels with 20 fixed paylines, multiplying Wilds and two lock-in respin modes. Those identifiers matter because lower-return builds and market-specific clients can share the same artwork.
The checked help states a theoretical RTP of 96.36%, equivalent to a 3.64% theoretical house edge. That is the figure for the client opened during this review, not proof that every operator deploys the same build. Relax's product record lists alternative game IDs, so the percentage inside the exact live client remains the controlling value.
The checked help does not state one fixed ordinary-game maximum. Its paytables and any separately documented jackpot rules must therefore be read without inventing a universal cap. The reference stake range is €0.10 to €80. The risk profile is not assigned a formal level in the current help; return and prize information do not predict whether a feature or large award will occur in a session.
This page confirms studio authorship, current help text and public release status. It does not claim that a New Zealand operator offers the title, that a demo is a local real-money product, or that a displayed euro-denominated reference range will appear as NZD. Those questions require a separate operator and live-client check.

Exact client, source hierarchy and release record
This review covers Troll's Gold, client identifier trollsgold. The official product route, own-games catalogue and 24 August 2021 release announcement connect the exact title to Relax Gaming's in-house portfolio.
The current client delivers help through an unversioned translation package. Because it does not show a publication date or version label, the evidence record says “checked 6 October 2026” rather than converting the date of our check into a provider version.
The client config is the controlling source for current RTP fields. The help package controls feature wording. The release announcement supplies historical launch context. This order matters because a launch article may retain a maximum headline after the client documentation has changed or stopped presenting it as a hard limit.
The public demo uses valueless credits and a Malta jurisdiction parameter. It establishes an accessible supplier package, not a New Zealand operator relationship. No claim about NZ inventory, currency or real-money eligibility follows from the demo URL.
20 fixed paylines
Line evaluation and multiplying Wild symbols
The game uses 20 fixed paylines. Ordinary matching symbols must occupy the required positions on consecutive reels from the left. A group visible elsewhere on the grid does not pay simply because the symbols touch or because enough copies appear.
Wild symbols substitute for ordinary paying symbols according to the paytable and also multiply a qualifying line win. The multiplication belongs to the specific evaluated win; a Wild elsewhere on the grid does not act as a screen-wide multiplier.
When more than one Wild multiplier contributes to the same line win, their values multiply together. This is different from an additive meter. A 2× and 3× combination applies 6× to that line under the documented rule, not 5×.
The product page shows a euro reference range of €0.10 to €80. Those figures identify the provider's public build. They neither prove corresponding NZD controls nor make a high maximum stake appropriate for any individual budget.
Matching stack on reel one
How standard Lock-in Respins continue
A full stack of one matching paying symbol on reel one starts the Lock-in Respins route. The initiating stack remains locked, as do matching symbols involved in the feature. Other positions respin without a new base-game charge.
The sequence continues when another matching symbol or a Wild lands. If a respin adds neither, the mode ends and the locked arrangement is evaluated. “Continue” therefore depends on a fresh qualifying arrival; the first full stack does not guarantee a fixed number of respins.
Filling the complete available screen with the matching symbol leads to a multiplier documented from 2× to 10× on the total feature win. The range does not say which value will appear in a particular event and should not be averaged into a promised return.
Wild multipliers can still affect valid line wins under their own rule. The locked-symbol feature and Wild multiplication must be applied in the documented settlement order rather than added together as if every visible number were a cash amount.
Gold Bags and one collector
Treasure Trove Respins, 19 spaces and collection prize
A full stack of Gold Bag symbols on reel one triggers Treasure Trove Respins. Gold Bags display values from 1× to 10× the reference bet. They occupy positions for the feature rather than forming ordinary 20-line wins.
The Treasure Chest is the Collector symbol. When it appears, it collects all visible Gold Bag values under the help rules. A displayed bag is potential feature value; the collection event determines when it is added to the award.
The feature has 19 fillable spaces. Filling every space awards the top collection result. The current help says the collection prize can provide up to an additional 10,000×. That is a feature component, not necessarily a statement of the whole round's universal cap.
A near-full screen is not stored for another paid spin. The arrangement belongs to the active respin sequence and clears when settlement completes. Watching repeated demo sequences cannot reveal the mathematical probability of the Collector or a full screen.
60× direct entry
Treasure Trove purchase and route RTP
The optional purchase costs 60 times the regular total bet and guarantees entry to Treasure Trove Respins. The charge buys the trigger condition; it does not guarantee that a Treasure Chest appears, that all 19 spaces fill or that the result reaches the price.
The current config states 96.61% for the BUYRTP route, compared with 96.36% for standard play. The 0.25 percentage-point difference is a long-run design property, not a rebate on one feature and not evidence that buying after losses improves the next result.
At a hypothetical $1 base bet, the displayed purchase scale would be $60 if the live client used the same multiplier. That example explains exposure only; it does not claim NZD availability or an operator's active setting.
The purchase can be removed by market or operator. Before using any real-money version, confirm the control, total cost, route RTP and account terms in that exact client. A disabled button is not an error that should be bypassed.
Dated headline versus current help
Why this guide does not claim a current 12,500× cap
The August 2021 release announcement used a maximum-win headline of 12,500×, alongside a 1,215× line figure and a collection prize of 10,000×. It is valid evidence of how Relax described the game at launch.
The current help package checked in 2026 retains the 10,000× collection-prize wording but does not expose one explicit whole-round settlement cap. A historic promotional maximum and a current hard cap are different claims, so this page does not merge them.
If a deployed operator help states a round cap, that exact wording should be recorded with the game ID, configuration and date. Until then, the current evidence gap remains visible rather than being filled by a precise-looking number from launch copy.
This boundary is practical: a feature component, a simulated maximum and a contractual maximum can have different meanings. Only an explicit current settlement rule establishes the amount at which a live client stops and pays the cap.
Live-help evidence
RTP, house edge and alternative builds
The information panel in the checked official demo states “the theoretical return to player for this game is 96.36%.” Subtracting that value from 100% gives a theoretical house edge of 3.64%. Both numbers describe the same long-run mathematical relationship from opposite directions; they are not separate charges and they are not a forecast for a deposit.
| Checked mode or route | Theoretical RTP | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Standard client configuration | 96.36% | Current client config: 6 October 2026 |
| Treasure Trove purchase | 96.61% | Applies only to the documented paid route where available |
A return of 96.36% means that across the model's very large test horizon, average awards correspond to 96.36 units for every 100 units staked. It does not mean a player receives that percentage back after 100 spins. High variation, rare features and capped awards can produce short samples far above or below the designed average.
Alternative game IDs are material even when their exact returns are absent from the public product card. A casino can deploy a lower-RTP build under the same consumer title. We therefore do not label 96.36% “universal” or “guaranteed.” Open the information control in the operator client and look for the percentage after the game has loaded.
The Treasure Trove purchase is mathematically separate in the checked help: it states 96.61% RTP and costs 60× the regular bet. That route can be unavailable in some markets or excluded by an operator. Its published return does not make the option affordable or reduce the possibility of losing the full price.
Do not infer RTP from a demo balance, one successful bonus, a streaming clip or a site's headline card. A random sample cannot identify the configured model reliably. The useful audit record is the exact title, visible game ID or version, displayed RTP, date and operator client captured together.
Distribution, not prediction
Volatility and maximum-win limits
The checked current help explains multiplying Wilds and respins that can continue as matching symbols arrive, but it does not publish a formal volatility level or hit frequency. A dated launch maximum is not a substitute for a measured current rating.
The current help does not publish a single fixed ordinary-game cap. That evidence gap must remain separate from moving progressive prizes and promotional maximum-win copy. If a deployed operator client states a cap, record that exact build and the unit it uses rather than importing a number from another source.
A cap is a settlement limit, not a realistic session target. It provides no countdown, hit schedule or evidence that raising the stake improves the chance per dollar. Previous non-winning spins do not move a random future result closer to the cap. Treat every paid round as new exposure.
Practical risk is also shaped by total stake, spin speed, feature purchases, enhanced-spin options and session length. A lower stake repeated rapidly can expose more money than a higher stake used briefly. Decide the total acceptable loss before opening the game, then use account limits and breaks rather than chasing a feature.
Read the charged amount
Bet range, optional costs and affordability
The product record gives a reference minimum of €0.10 and maximum of €80. Those euro-denominated figures identify the provider's reference build. They do not promise equivalent NZD controls, and an operator can apply different denominations or account limits.
Always read the total bet immediately before a paid action. The interface can show denomination, level, lines and total stake separately. Enhanced spins or bonus-reel options may increase the price of a round, while a feature purchase can cost many multiples of the base stake. The amount leaving the balance is the relevant measure.
A useful pre-session calculation is total bet multiplied by the maximum number of rounds you are prepared to buy, assuming the entire amount can be lost. For a feature purchase, treat the whole displayed price as exposed at once. Do not finance a purchase by increasing the base stake after losses.
Promotional funds do not change the slot's RTP. Wagering requirements, game contribution, maximum-bet rules and cash-out limits sit in the operator's terms. Check them independently, because a bonus can make an otherwise permitted game or stake ineligible.
Interface verification
Mobile help and what a demo can prove
The official web demo loaded a responsive game client and exposed the title, help date, version, rules and return information used here. On a phone, locate the menu, information icon, total bet, balance and paytable before considering a paid round. If text is clipped, rotate the device or expand the help rather than relying on a search result.
A demo can demonstrate symbol movement, feature order, mode selection and interface controls with valueless credits. It cannot establish that a real-money operator accepts players in New Zealand, that the operator uses the same game ID, or that its active RTP matches the demo.
Demo results also cannot validate the long-run RTP. Ten, one hundred or even thousands of observed spins are a noisy sample, especially in a volatile game. A large demo win is not a prediction for paid play and a dry demo sequence is not proof that the published mathematics is wrong.
If desktop and mobile help disagree, pause. Record the exact URL or operator, title, mode, help version and percentages. The mismatch can indicate a cached client, a market build or an update. Current deployed help is stronger evidence than an undated review, but conflicting clients still need clarification.
Separate evidence chain
New Zealand access is not inferred from the demo
Relax Gaming's own-games catalogue and public demo show that the studio publishes Troll's Gold. They do not show that a named operator lawfully offers it to a person in New Zealand. Studio publication, aggregation, operator inventory, territorial access and legal status are separate claims.
Before any real-money use, verify the operator's identity, current New Zealand terms, age and location controls, payments, withdrawals, complaints, account limits and self-exclusion tools. A localised page, NZD wallet or country flag is not on its own regulatory proof.
New Zealand's online-gambling position is time-sensitive. Check the Department of Internal Affairs player guidance and our dated legal-status guide at the point of use. This review is about one game's rules and does not provide legal advice.
Even after an operator check, inspect the live game help. A valid operator relationship does not prove the highest RTP, and the right RTP does not prove operator status. Keeping both questions separate prevents a global demo from becoming an unsupported availability claim.
Source reconciliation
What the checked sources establish
The official product page establishes first-party authorship, public release status, layout, reference bets, headline features and the supported market game IDs. The loaded demo supplies the stronger operational evidence for rules, version, displayed RTP, purchase route and win-cap wording.
The current config verifies 96.36% base RTP and 96.61% BUYRTP. Current help verifies multiplying Wilds, Lock-in and Treasure Trove triggers, 1×–10× bag values, the Collector chest, 19 spaces and a 10,000× collection-prize statement. The 2021 release used a 12,500× headline, but current help does not expose one whole-round cap, so the distinction is preserved.
Third-party reviews were used to find frequent questions and contradictions, not to override the live help. Competitors often print only the largest cap, omit the selected mode, describe alternative IDs as exact RTPs without a source, or treat global demo access as operator availability.
The evidence was checked on 6 October 2026. The date matters: Relax can update a client or product card, and operators can retain another certified build. Future checks should start with the deployed help and compare its identifier, version and return with this record.
We do not add a hit rate, feature frequency, universal volatility score, New Zealand operator claim or exact alternative RTP unless the checked first-party material supports it. An explicit evidence gap is preferable to a precise-looking number copied from another release.
Two-minute audit
Checklist before relying on this guide
- Match the full title Troll's Gold and developer Relax Gaming.
- Confirm game ID trollsgold, help date 6 October 2026 and version not exposed where shown.
- Check the layout: five reels with 20 fixed paylines, multiplying Wilds and two lock-in respin modes.
- Read feature triggers, reset rules and settlement order in the live help.
- Record the active RTP rather than assuming 96.36%.
- Confirm whether the deployed help states an ordinary cap; preserve the gap if it does not.
- Read the displayed total stake after enabling any option.
- Verify operator identity and New Zealand access independently.
- Check promotional terms separately from game mathematics.
- Set money and time limits that remain acceptable if no feature arrives.
If the live help differs, use that deployed build and send the title, game ID, version, date and screenshot through our corrections process. That evidence lets us update one canonical review without creating duplicate RTP or bonus pages.

Questions answered
Frequently asked questions
What is the Troll's Gold RTP?
The current official trollsgold configuration checked on 6 October 2026 states 96.36% for standard play and 96.61% for the 60× Treasure Trove purchase.
How do Wilds work in Troll's Gold?
Wilds substitute for ordinary symbols and multiply the line win. When several Wild values contribute to the same win, their multipliers multiply together.
What triggers Lock-in Respins?
A full stack of the same paying symbol on reel one locks that stack and matching symbols. Respins continue when another matching symbol or Wild lands.
How do Treasure Trove Respins work?
A full reel-one stack of Gold Bags triggers the mode. Bags show 1×–10× values, the Treasure Chest collects visible values, and filling all 19 spaces awards an additional collection prize documented up to 10,000×.
What is Troll's Gold maximum win?
The current help package does not state one universal whole-round cap. The 2021 launch article used a 12,500× maximum headline, but this guide does not promote that dated line to a current hard cap.
