Cluster Tumble: rules, features and verified RTP

Cluster Tumble uses an 8x8 board where clusters of four or more pay and destroy adjacent symbols or stone blocks. Lightning Win and Fire Transform can alter the following cascade; clearing all stones or landing three Scatters triggers five Free Spins. The checked v1.0.16 help states 96.40% base RTP, 96.48% for the 100x standard purchase and 96.57% for the 200x volatile purchase.

Short answer

Evidence-led verdict

Cluster Tumble is a Relax Gaming first-party title identified in the checked demo as clustertumble. The live help we inspected is dated 9 March 2026 and marked version 1.0.16; the official release record dates the game to 3 November 2021. The rules describe an 8-column by 8-row cluster board where four or more matching adjacent symbols pay. Those identifiers matter because lower-return builds and market-specific clients can share the same artwork.

The checked help states a theoretical RTP of 96.40%, equivalent to a 3.60% theoretical house edge. That is the figure for the client opened during this review, not proof that every operator deploys the same build. Relax's product record lists alternative game IDs, so the percentage inside the exact live client remains the controlling value.

The current help states that if the sum of wins in a round reaches 20,000x bet or more, the whole round is awarded at the 20,000x ceiling. The checked help did not state a universal stake range, so denomination claims are left to the exact deployed client. The risk profile is described as high in the official launch announcement, while the current help gives no formal scale; return and prize information do not predict whether a feature or large award will occur in a session.

This page confirms studio authorship, current help text and public release status. It does not claim that a New Zealand operator offers the title, that a demo is a local real-money product, or that a displayed euro-denominated reference range will appear as NZD. Those questions require a separate operator and live-client check.

2021 standard edition

Release status and the checked Cluster Tumble build

Relax Gaming announced Cluster Tumble on 3 November 2021 and continues to list it among its own games. This review covers game ID clustertumble, not a Dream Drop-labelled edition or another studio's similarly named cluster game.

The information panel loaded on 6 October 2026 with the date 09/03/2026 and version 1.0.16. Its later rules file controls the RTP, purchase and cap statements below. The launch announcement is retained for release history and the provider's qualitative volatility description.

The board contains eight columns and eight rows. At the opening of a round, many positions can be occupied by stone blocks rather than paying symbols. The core task of the mechanics is therefore both forming clusters and breaking the surrounding board open.

The demo used FUN credits and a general official client. It establishes the game rules, not a New Zealand casino listing. It also does not establish that an operator activates either purchase route or uses the same mathematical package.

Four-symbol threshold

Cluster wins, cascades and stone removal

A valid win starts with at least four matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically. Diagonal contact is not enough by itself. The game pays according to the final cluster size shown in the paytable, then removes the winning group.

In addition to the winners, adjacent normal symbols and adjacent stone blocks are destroyed. New symbols fall down into the opened spaces and the game evaluates the resulting board again. This cascade belongs to the same paid round, so it does not charge another stake.

Clearing ordinary blocks expands the area where new symbols can land. It does not guarantee another cluster, and an almost cleared board has no memory that makes the final block more likely to be removed on a later paid round. Each spin begins from the state defined by that round.

The Wild substitutes for normal symbols. The paytable also says a Wild may have up to five lives and loses a life when used in a win. That durability explains why a visible Wild can participate in more than one cascade, but it still needs a valid cluster around it.

Board-wide follow-up win

How Lightning Win changes the next cascade

Some stone blocks conceal a feature. When a cluster touches and activates a Lightning Win block, the block changes into a target normal symbol. The feature then waits for the following cascade rather than paying immediately at activation.

After that cascade lands, all normal symbols matching the target are treated as a win regardless of their position on the board. Wild symbols join that evaluation. This is an exception to the ordinary rule that cluster members must touch horizontally or vertically.

The target is one normal symbol type. Lightning Win does not turn the whole grid into Wilds, and it does not make every visible symbol pay. The distinction matters because a screenshot of a scattered board-wide win can otherwise be mistaken for the normal cluster mechanic.

The resulting removal can open more stones, expose another special block and produce another cascade. That chain is possible, not scheduled. The rules contain no published hit rate for Lightning Win and no evidence that an unopened block is guaranteed to conceal it.

One or two symbol conversions

Fire Transform and cascade timing

An activated Fire Transform block also becomes a target normal symbol. On the following cascade, one or two other normal symbol types are converted into the target type. The conversion can create a larger connected group than the board originally displayed.

Fire Transform differs from Lightning Win. Lightning can award matching targets anywhere on the board, while Fire changes selected symbol types and still relies on the resulting arrangement. They can both increase removal but reach it through different evaluation rules.

The feature fires only after the stone block has been activated by an adjacent win. A special block visible behind stones is not an immediate award. It must become exposed under the rule sequence, and the subsequent conversion still may fail to create a large cluster.

When multiple effects occur, read the animation as a settlement order, not as a new choice. The player cannot select the target or the transformed types. A demo can show the sequence, but repeated demo spins cannot reveal the certified probability of either modifier.

Board-clear multiplier

Free Spins triggers, retriggers and two purchase routes

Three Scatter symbols or the removal of every stone block in the main game awards five Free Spins. During the feature, each Scatter adds one spin. Clearing the whole board adds three spins and increases the persistent multiplier by three: x3 after the first clear, x6 after the next, then x9 and onward.

The standard purchase costs 100 times the reference bet, enters with five spins and uses that ordinary x3 multiplier step. Its help-stated return is 96.48%. The route is mathematically distinct from the base game's 96.40% return.

The volatile purchase costs 200 times the reference bet and also starts with five spins, but the clear-board multiplier advances twice as fast: x6, x12, x18 and onward. The current help states 96.57% RTP for that route. “Volatile” here names the purchase option and its faster multiplier, not a promise of a larger return.

Either purchase exposes its full price immediately and may settle below cost. Availability can depend on the market and operator. The 20,000× cap applies to the completed round, so a multiplier that could arithmetically imply more is still constrained by the help's settlement ceiling.

Live-help evidence

RTP, house edge and alternative builds

The information panel in the checked official demo states “the theoretical return to player for this game is 96.40%.” Subtracting that value from 100% gives a theoretical house edge of 3.60%. Both numbers describe the same long-run mathematical relationship from opposite directions; they are not separate charges and they are not a forecast for a deposit.

Checked mode or routeTheoretical RTPHow to use it
Base game in official demo96.40%Verified in help: 9 March 2026
Standard Free Spins purchase96.48%Applies only to the documented paid route where available
Volatile Free Spins purchase96.57%Checked help; costs 200× and doubles the board-clear multiplier step

A return of 96.40% means that across the model's very large test horizon, average awards correspond to 96.40 units for every 100 units staked. It does not mean a player receives that percentage back after 100 spins. High variation, rare features and capped awards can produce short samples far above or below the designed average.

Alternative game IDs are material even when their exact returns are absent from the public product card. A casino can deploy a lower-RTP build under the same consumer title. We therefore do not label 96.40% “universal” or “guaranteed.” Open the information control in the operator client and look for the percentage after the game has loaded.

The Standard Free Spins purchase is mathematically separate in the checked help: it states 96.48% RTP and costs 100× the reference bet. That route can be unavailable in some markets or excluded by an operator. Its published return does not make the option affordable or reduce the possibility of losing the full price.

Do not infer RTP from a demo balance, one successful bonus, a streaming clip or a site's headline card. A random sample cannot identify the configured model reliably. The useful audit record is the exact title, visible game ID or version, displayed RTP, date and operator client captured together.

Distribution, not prediction

Volatility and maximum-win limits

Relax Gaming's dated launch announcement describes Cluster Tumble as high volatility. The v1.0.16 help does not publish a numeric scale or feature frequency, so this page preserves the qualitative first-party label without turning it into odds or a schedule.

The current help states that if the sum of wins in a round reaches 20,000x bet or more, the whole round is awarded at the 20,000x ceiling. “Times bet” uses the full paid stake for the initiating round, not one coin, one line or the balance. A $1 hypothetical stake makes the scale easy to understand, but it does not assert that NZD play is offered.

A cap is a settlement limit, not a realistic session target. It provides no countdown, hit schedule or evidence that raising the stake improves the chance per dollar. Previous non-winning spins do not move a random future result closer to the cap. Treat every paid round as new exposure.

Practical risk is also shaped by total stake, spin speed, feature purchases, enhanced-spin options and session length. A lower stake repeated rapidly can expose more money than a higher stake used briefly. Decide the total acceptable loss before opening the game, then use account limits and breaks rather than chasing a feature.

Read the charged amount

Bet range, optional costs and affordability

The current help verifies two optional prices—100× bet for standard Free Spins and 200× for volatile Free Spins—but does not establish one universal minimum or maximum denomination. Read the active total bet and the selected purchase price in the deployed client.

Always read the total bet immediately before a paid action. The interface can show denomination, level, lines and total stake separately. Enhanced spins or bonus-reel options may increase the price of a round, while a feature purchase can cost many multiples of the base stake. The amount leaving the balance is the relevant measure.

A useful pre-session calculation is total bet multiplied by the maximum number of rounds you are prepared to buy, assuming the entire amount can be lost. For a feature purchase, treat the whole displayed price as exposed at once. Do not finance a purchase by increasing the base stake after losses.

Promotional funds do not change the slot's RTP. Wagering requirements, game contribution, maximum-bet rules and cash-out limits sit in the operator's terms. Check them independently, because a bonus can make an otherwise permitted game or stake ineligible.

Interface verification

Mobile help and what a demo can prove

The official web demo loaded a responsive game client and exposed the title, help date, version, rules and return information used here. On a phone, locate the menu, information icon, total bet, balance and paytable before considering a paid round. If text is clipped, rotate the device or expand the help rather than relying on a search result.

A demo can demonstrate symbol movement, feature order, mode selection and interface controls with valueless credits. It cannot establish that a real-money operator accepts players in New Zealand, that the operator uses the same game ID, or that its active RTP matches the demo.

Demo results also cannot validate the long-run RTP. Ten, one hundred or even thousands of observed spins are a noisy sample, especially in a volatile game. A large demo win is not a prediction for paid play and a dry demo sequence is not proof that the published mathematics is wrong.

If desktop and mobile help disagree, pause. Record the exact URL or operator, title, mode, help version and percentages. The mismatch can indicate a cached client, a market build or an update. Current deployed help is stronger evidence than an undated review, but conflicting clients still need clarification.

Separate evidence chain

New Zealand access is not inferred from the demo

Relax Gaming's own-games catalogue and public demo show that the studio publishes Cluster Tumble. They do not show that a named operator lawfully offers it to a person in New Zealand. Studio publication, aggregation, operator inventory, territorial access and legal status are separate claims.

Before any real-money use, verify the operator's identity, current New Zealand terms, age and location controls, payments, withdrawals, complaints, account limits and self-exclusion tools. A localised page, NZD wallet or country flag is not on its own regulatory proof.

New Zealand's online-gambling position is time-sensitive. Check the Department of Internal Affairs player guidance and our dated legal-status guide at the point of use. This review is about one game's rules and does not provide legal advice.

Even after an operator check, inspect the live game help. A valid operator relationship does not prove the highest RTP, and the right RTP does not prove operator status. Keeping both questions separate prevents a global demo from becoming an unsupported availability claim.

Source reconciliation

What the checked sources establish

The official product page establishes first-party authorship, public release status, layout, reference bets, headline features and the supported market game IDs. The loaded demo supplies the stronger operational evidence for rules, version, displayed RTP, purchase route and win-cap wording.

The live help supplies the 8×8 geometry, four-symbol threshold, stone-destruction order, Lightning and Fire rules, Free Spins schedule, three RTP settings, two purchase prices and 20,000× cap. The dated release record supports the 3 November 2021 launch and high-volatility description; it does not override the newer help.

Third-party reviews were used to find frequent questions and contradictions, not to override the live help. Competitors often print only the largest cap, omit the selected mode, describe alternative IDs as exact RTPs without a source, or treat global demo access as operator availability.

The evidence was checked on 6 October 2026. The date matters: Relax can update a client or product card, and operators can retain another certified build. Future checks should start with the deployed help and compare its identifier, version and return with this record.

We do not add a hit rate, feature frequency, universal volatility score, New Zealand operator claim or exact alternative RTP unless the checked first-party material supports it. An explicit evidence gap is preferable to a precise-looking number copied from another release.

Two-minute audit

Checklist before relying on this guide

  1. Match the full title Cluster Tumble and developer Relax Gaming.
  2. Confirm game ID clustertumble, help date 9 March 2026 and version 1.0.16 where shown.
  3. Check the layout: an 8-column by 8-row cluster board where four or more matching adjacent symbols pay.
  4. Read feature triggers, reset rules and settlement order in the live help.
  5. Record the active RTP rather than assuming 96.40%.
  6. Recheck the exact maximum wording: 20,000x the initiating bet.
  7. Read the displayed total stake after enabling any option.
  8. Verify operator identity and New Zealand access independently.
  9. Check promotional terms separately from game mathematics.
  10. Set money and time limits that remain acceptable if no feature arrives.

If the live help differs, use that deployed build and send the title, game ID, version, date and screenshot through our corrections process. That evidence lets us update one canonical review without creating duplicate RTP or bonus pages.
