Before you visit

Casino entry checklist for New Zealand

You must be at least 20 to enter, remain in or gamble in a casino gambling area. Check the venue’s current ID guidance and access conditions before travelling.

Dated legal summary: checked 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.

Confirm age and acceptable ID

The land-based casino gambling-area threshold is 20 under section 303 of the Gambling Act 2003. Carry a current photo document and confirm that the venue accepts it.

Check the official venue page

Confirm current hours, restricted areas, accessibility arrangements, dress expectations and any event-related changes. A national directory cannot guarantee day-of-visit operations.

Respect exclusion

Do not enter a gambling area if an exclusion order applies. Contact the venue host responsibility team or a counsellor if you want to discuss self-exclusion.

Separate venue areas

A casino may sit within a larger hospitality complex. Restaurants, hotels and gambling areas can have different access rules, so check the specific area you intend to use.
